View Full Version : When will the "BUSH LIED!!!" crowd start complaining about Pelosi's fibs?

There is a lot more evidence that Nancy Pelosi knew all about the waterboarding she now claims to have never heard of, than there ever was evidence that George W. Bush "lied" about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction. Yet for some reason, the people who screamed the loudest their false allegations of Bush "lying", are now curiously silent about Pelosi's clear act.

When can we expect them to resume their self-appointed duty of exposing politicians who actually did lie?

Hill Briefed on waterboarding in 2002

In Meetings, Spy Panels' Chiefs Did Not Protest, Officials Say

In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

"The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough," said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.

Yet long before "waterboarding" entered the public discourse, the CIA gave key legislative overseers about 30 private briefings, some of which included descriptions of that technique and other harsh interrogation methods, according to interviews with multiple U.S. officials with firsthand knowledge.

With one known exception, no formal objections were raised by the lawmakers briefed about the harsh methods during the two years in which waterboarding was employed, from 2002 to 2003, said Democrats and Republicans with direct knowledge of the matter. The lawmakers who held oversight roles during the period included Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), as well as Rep. Porter J. Goss (R-Fla.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).

Individual lawmakers' recollections of the early briefings varied dramatically, but officials present during the meetings described the reaction as mostly quiet acquiescence, if not outright support. "Among those being briefed, there was a pretty full understanding of what the CIA was doing," said Goss, who chaired the House intelligence committee from 1997 to 2004 and then served as CIA director from 2004 to 2006. "And the reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement."

Most of the time the liberal media will just ignore anything that resemble a negative story about the left whether true or not.

Now another question I have is why wasn't this all over all the media when it seems only the Post caught it years ago

There is no way someone could purposely be this stupid. Obviously whoever Joe Steel is gets off on riling people up with idiotic comments.

Either that or I give to much credit and he is in fact a slack toothed yokel.

Liberal playbook:

Step 1: When you don't like the message, attack the messenger.

Step 2: Ignore it, hope it will go away.

Step 3: ... Guess we'll find out.

She's a lib, and has the get away with anything free card. It's the same situation that Sean has reported, she gets all those awards for supporting unions but won't let unions work in her businesses, and the press looks the other way.

Bush did not touch any prisioner. The little fagot is to scared.

That's why they stopped pushing the issue.

It would push the issue from rightousness to hypocrosy.

At any rate the whole thing is overemphasised.

We had meetings.

We kept records.

The definition of torture changes from one administration to the next.

If it was torture it was the mildest form of it.

And it was only used on 3 confirmed terrorist leaders who had actionable intelligence that saved many lives.

I am more worried about administrations who don't discuss, and don't keep records,.. like uhh ,.. this one.

Bottom line is, 3000 innocent Americans were murdered, and Democrats outraged because we "overreacted"?

Our government, and Pres Bush did what they had to do to make sure it did not happen to us again

They should get a huge amount of gratitude from all of us. Who in their right mind did not believe another attack was in the works?

Obama is a coward and will say and or do anything to make those morons in the Senate and Congress wants to hear so that he can get the money he wants.

President Bush kept us safe for 8 years and now Obama will get us attacked again and more of us will die for sure. Just wait until Gitmo is closed and those terrorist are released.

If the chosen one stays in office for 8 years you can bet your last dollar there will be a major attack on this country again, honestly I am surprised there hasn't been yet

There's some pushback starting up against Nancy --

Here's a negative article on Pelosi's lack of response to the torture briefings from Politico http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22448.html

that was cited in the new liberal women's Webzine "Double X" that Slate is putting out.

To me, a torture opponent, this is just more of the supremely disillusioning behavior of Pelosi, who said Dems would stop the war if they got the majority in 2006; and they did, and she didn't bother. Same deal here: she knew about the torture, but she didn't care when it wasn't convenient to care.

.... Yup. Rush said today that Pelosi's not exactly on Obama's guest list. We're about to see some in-fighting among the Democrat Party.
