Last night I watched Benjamin Button -
The plot goes like this:
Boy born old...cataracts, arthritis, wrinkled shriveled. The movie follows his journey growing young. When he's a boy - the size of a 7 year old, but the looks/body of somebody in their late 80s perhaps - he meets a girl named Daisy. They form a very strong bond - however each goes their own way for most of their life.
I enjoyed the movie. I didn't like the movie, too. First things first - Brad Pitt is a perfect (physically) guy. Frustrating as hell, but :beers: to him. :)
What I loved was the mind-screw that was trying to keep my mind wrapped around the affects of somebody aging in reverse. They say "if only youth knew, if only age could". Benjamin had it right - as he younged, he kept with him the knowledge and experiences and wisdom of his years. What initially sounded like a blessing was openly shown to be a curse as time went by. Benjamin lived a wonderful yet ultimately lonely life.
I got watery-eyed a few times as Benjamin and Daisy would fall in and out of love or moments. Watching a fictional-but-absolutely-plausible relationship as they had - think Princess Bride "True Love". Frustrating.
Good movie. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett played well together.
Go ahead and rent it - if you like movies of the heart, with occasional laughter, you'll like this movie.
My favourite part -
SPOILER ALERT!

Daisy comes back after awhile to find Benjamin, after absolutely destroying him and telling him to leave her alone. He escorts her to her room for the night - she locks the door and tuns to him. She says "Sleep with me." His reply: "Absolutely...."
