Stupid is as Stupid Does. Simple but difficult to understand, isn't it?

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released the following statement regarding the Defense Department's proposal to send 12,000 National Guard combat forces to Iraq and Afghanistan:

Democrats are continuing to fight to give our troops the resources they need, including a strategy for success worthy of their sacrifices. The president's new plan to follow up his ill-advised escalation by sending ill-prepared National Guard troops to Iraq is another misguided strategy neither our troops nor the American people can afford. Nearly 90 percent of the Army National Guard has less than half the equipment they need to respond to a national crisis, and the war in Iraqis endangering our National Guard at home.

President Bush has done more than anyone to damage troop readiness, which are at levels not seen since the Vietnam War. While the Administration continually shifts its stance on when the escalation will end and when we will see results, our military is stretched too thin and our troops are returning to combat too soon and with too little training.”

Ain't nothin' new here, folks, keep on movin' and talking to and answering yourselves.

Typical lib propaganda which syco buys into wholeheartedly.Actually it's not an article, it's a statement from the Senate majority leader. You think the fact that the miltary doesn't have enough equipment to be safe and to win the war is propaganda?
Do you think the Senator is lying? If he lied, the Pentagon would be all over it, calling press conferences saying Harry Reid lied! :laugh2: No, it's all true. And if you and the Pentagon and Hannity and Gates and Limbaugh and Bush all pretend that the troops have what they need, and they needlessly die because they don't have protection, their blood is on your hands, for an unjust war based on lies.

Our military should be the best in the world with all we spend on it. Our troops should be properly protected, instead their tours are being extended and their time home is being cut short to go back.

It is not true, and Reid is full of shit, just as he always is.

The Pentagon would NOT be all over anything Reid states since the military has as of yet to start making political statements, or statements to correct politicians talking out their asses. That would require a whole new branch.

The pretenders are you lefties who take a baseless accusation and run with it for years until you've created a myth. A myth based on a lie.

All military personnel have and have had body armor, and every bit of equipment and weapons required to do the job. That they do not have the body armor and gear you libbies wouldn't pay for if the Prez was a Dem anyway is irrelevant, and does not negate the adequate gear they do have.

It also is not Bush's fault he inherited a military Clinton ignored, and squeezed every dime out of for 8 years. You can't buy new gear and weapons on faith alone.

Equipment For Added Troops Is Lacking
New Iraq Forces Must Make Do, Officials Say
By Ann Scott Tyson
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, January 30, 2007; Page A12

Boosting U.S. troop levels in Iraq by 21,500 would create major logistical hurdles for the Army and Marine Corps, which are short thousands of vehicles, armor kits and other equipment needed to supply the extra forces, U.S. officials said.

The increase would also further degrade the readiness of U.S.-based ground forces, hampering their ability to respond quickly, fully trained and well equipped in the case of other military contingencies around the world and increasing the risk of U.S. casualties, according to Army and Marine Corps leaders.

"The response would be slower than we might like, we would not have all of the equipment sets that ordinarily would be the case, and there is certainly risk associated with that," the Marine Corps commandant, Gen. James Conway, told the House Armed Services Committee last week.

President Bush's plan to send five additional U.S. combat brigades into Iraq has left the Army and Marines scrambling to ensure that the troops could be supported with the necessary armored vehicles, jamming devices, radios and other gear, as well as lodging and other logistics.

Trucks are in particularly short supply. For example, the Army would need 1,500 specially outfitted -- known as "up-armored" -- 2 1/2 -ton and five-ton trucks in Iraq for the incoming units, said Lt. Gen. Stephen Speakes, the Army's deputy chief of staff for force development.

"We don't have the [armor] kits, and we don't have the trucks," Speakes said in an interview. He said it will take the Army months, probably until summer, to supply and outfit the additional trucks. As a result, he said, combat units flowing into Iraq would have to share the trucks assigned to units now there, leading to increased use and maintenance.

Speakes said that although another type of vehicle -- the up-armored Humvee -- continues to be in short supply Army-wide, there would be "adequate" numbers for incoming forces, and each brigade would receive 400 fully outfitted Humvees. But he said that to meet the need, the Army would have to draw down pre-positioned stocks that would then not be available for other contingencies.LINK (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/29/AR2007012901584.html)
