It looks like the Manchurian Candidate plans on only 1 term and all the damage he can inflict. The scary part is he may figure out a way to make that one term longer than 4 years.

Well....here is my theory. I think the Democratic Party of yesterday whose leaders were the likes of Kennedy, Humphrey, Wallace and the 80-90's Party of Zell Miller and other Blue Dogs (who used to be the standard average Democrat with comscious) have had their party hijacked by the likes of the current shit that runs the party. I believe it was always their intention. Stumbling blocks like Bill Clinton lengthened their plight and got in the way from time to time.

Even Jimmy Carter wasn't in the 70's anywhere near as bad as an average Democrat today. The have been testing the elasticity of the left hand side of the rubberband since the Cultural Revolution. Socialism was a bad word to the average Democrat of the 50's, as it was certainly Conservatives. N one disagreed on the need to squash Socialism which we were all convinced spawned Communism and I don't have to tell you how bad we all feared that. I can still remember being honkered down under my second grade school desk going through attack drills. When asked why we were conducting those drills my second grade teacher answered, It is in case we are attacked by the Communists Emmett."

I remember looking on a globe and seeing the words spelled out.....United Soviet Socailist Republic. Man....what a scary name! It just scared the hell out of me! I didn't even like to hear it said, I feared it and I admit it.

Now I think.......United States Socialist Republic. Damn! I am just as scared of that. I also wonder how the words Socialist and Republic wound up in the name of USSR. It didn't make since to me later as a 6th or 7th grader, given my understanding of what those words meant that they could appear together in the name of a country. Of course I have always has a slight problem understanding the difference between a Commonwealth state and a regular ol "United" state. Not that I need it to be explained to me. I know what it is supposed to mean, I just don't get it!

I guess we should change the name of the country to "United Commonwealth Society of Socialist States ran by losers who wish to fail".

I sort of see things this way. It is time to realize that we can't all play together anymore. I think maybe we should all pick up our toys and go home, you know....seperate ways. California and Nevada may be neighbors but they ain;t from the same "Union" anymore. Nebraska, Oklahoma and some other mid-America states are clearly not going to go blue. If they haven'e by now...they ain;t ever and might need to rethink their future in the United States since the country obviously does not even mimick any conceivable image of what their idea of the United States is. Frankly, If I were them....I'd quit. I believe in majority rule for the most part but damn, as much as 70% of those states people are Republicans and Conservatives so how could it be that the country's way of life even begins to represent thier best interests any longer. I would think Wyoming might consider tagging along for a better ride than they will no doubt get if they on this train.

Would it be wriong of these folks to insist on being let loose at this point? They are free? Right? I mean.......we are free...right? We don't HAVE to continue to agree do we?

Hmmmmm.....makes me wonder. Can I have a choice? Can Ijust be an old fashioned American then? Can I have my rights back and start over in a new land of freedom. I think I would like that chance. If the Liberals want to continue this...fine...just give me an alternative such as a Nebraska or something and I'll go there to be with folks who are more likeminded to myself. I mean I don;t want to leave my home state but I would jump...and I mean in a hurry to be a part of something so great as what my country USED to be.

can I have a choice? can I be a part of something that will operate differently than this disfunctional big government system that insists it knows better for me than I do how to run my life and my family.

Can I have a choice? Can I expect to have to have to work hard for my way and then actually keep what I have so as to realize the bounty for my efforts instead of having it taken away and given to the first guy who can sneak in to my land with his pregnate wife and show up at a community hospital that my wasted tax dollars serve.

can I have a choice? Can I go to a country where I can move about as I please, where there are no "permits" or "regulations" on how I have to live as long as I don;t hurt anybody physically? Where my home will be my home....forever! No one can ever take it from me for any reason....EVER....NEVER!

Can I have a choice? Can I live in a country that does not screw with other worthless cause countries but concentrates it's resources on itself, maybe even selfishly in the eyes of others but even so anyway so as to have the things that it's hard working, peace loving citizens want and need first......before trying to appease the needs of others who insult them after being given gifts and unwarranted rewards/

Can I have a choice? can I please not be stopped by the local Police officer and asked a question of any kind /.......ever! Except how am I today and is there anything I need of him so as to allow him the privledge of assisting me in return for the livelihood I provide he and his family.

Can I have a choice? May I please live in a land where I can turn on the news and not see a damn political piece of news what so ever but see the latest on local events, how well someone is serving their fellow man, a nice stroy of compassion of how someone who was in need recieved help from others in this new land I live in and how it has made a wonderful difference.

Can I have a choice? Please! Can I live in a country where no matter who I am, what I do or where I come from I can aspire to attain something for me and my family based solely on how hard I work and attempt to ghet ahead. May I be promoted based on performance and not on the fact that I am a member of a certain creed. Don't fix the game for me, that will ruin me in time of my need to be everything I need to be. Let me earn it because I will.

Can I join a political party that believes in these things so just as easily as these Socialists waited decades, I am willing also if it will make the world a better place for my family and even if I am not able to experience it in mine.

YES! I CAN> I can join the Libertarian Party and be of the exact same mindset as the founding fathers of the United States of America. I can try my utmost best to convert one American at a time to understand what we have to gain, even if it takes a lifetime, which I am willing to spend doing.

So you are cool with Obama's plans or none regarding Afghanistan. Just keep sending troops, with not withdrawal date, not to mention no definition of end game there.

You are cool with the best scenario, pulling all troops to US and withdrawing from any talks that may mean engagement, right?

Me?

Oh.....my bad teach. I wasn't paying attention.

Yes I'm cool with never engaging anyone outside of this country again by means of conventional warfare. Yes. Most certainly.

I'm also cool with building a stringer America that when we threaten to cut someone off from aid and resources, it worries then like it used to. We used to actually get things done like that.

I'm cool with stepping up the Afghanistan thing too. Hmmm//// that's funny. Makes no sense. I know. I'm cool with ending it. I'm cool with throwing every resource we have into getting it over with. What we are doing now is not in that effort. GW dispatched Afghanistan rather quickly on his way to Iraq yet this admin seems hard pressed to be making much progress. Oh...wait...that might be because the US Government News Agency does not cover this war....I mean conflict.....I mean.....disagreement.......I mean....negotiation.

What the hell are we supposed to be calling this anyway?

Isn't this scenario you are talking about the whole reason we got into the war between the states?

I truly believe that most Democrats are and were this bad. It was just baby steps, they were pushing the envelope a little bit at a time until they could kick the door wide open. I listened to the dirtbag libs in congress for nearly 10 months in 95. They are doing exactly what they were wanting to do then.

This is where they have been taking us for the whole of my life.

I'll save my other comments for one on one, LOL!!! I'm taking care of my sick wife so I'll get back to our one on one in a day or two.

Yes Sir, you are right. My point to the thread actually.

We send regards to your wife and tell her to get well in a hurry!

OK. Have to say this. There are some parts of the succesionist philosophy I agree with. When the "union" no longer stands for what it was initially conceived to represent, i feel the South had a right under that premise to do what they did. Virginia was looking at things slightly differently than the rest of the south. They were to be invaded. They were defending themselves from the tyranny of government under the Second Amendment.

Totally.

I remember as a child, 12 to 16 before I left for the Navy that my grandfather would make reference to him often when arguing with his little ol buddy that would come over to our apartment and they would argue about politics. This was early 70's of course back in the origin days of the Libertarian Party formation. My grandpa was of the mindset that a third party would be necessary for proper balance in the political world. In hindsight I see how right he was.

His little buddy was a fellow who lived on a neighborhood street close to our apartment complex. I believe they met during one of his walks he would take each morning and afternoon. Much of my political education came from the conversations I would hear them having. They both loved to sit and argue the items of the day and eventually I would of course hear a complete pitch from both sides. They would sit in lounge chairs just outside my bedroom window to conduct these discussions so I had a front row seat. His buddy, Mr. Clark was a Democrat of course and my grandpa was a Conservative. They were great pals, both WW1 Vets and actually agreed on quite a lot. The Nixon era produced plenty for them to argue about of course. Grandpa was not a big Nixon fan however and I remember hearing him get pickled by Mr. Clark from time to time about the social agenda that Republicans were adopting from time to time.

It was of course very boring to me at first to listen to them as I thought it a waste of time to sit and argue politics. Being a teen, my interests were of course baseball, riding motorcycles in the woods, working and hanging out with friends. I couldn't help listening however as eventually I started to become interested in listening to see who was getting the best of each other. From time to time they would raise their voices and sound like they were getting mad at each other. From time to time my step-father and mom would visit and he would sit in and those conversations got very loud. He was a Democrat also and it caused a 2 on 1. At about 14 I started to get involved at which time I would chime in in an effort to defend my grandpa so as not to see him being ganged up on. I'm not sure I really knew what I was talking about exactly at times but I felt compeled to defend my grandpa against these two guys so that is how I got involved in political conversations. It stuck and I have been a hack ever since.

While only an average to poor student at school due to poor discipline I did excel in one category. History and Social Studies. having this distinct advantage of being well informed about politics from these gentlemen made me a very popular item in these classes. While I was considered a far less than average student overall by teachers at school due to my poor input in most courses I was well known throughout the faculty as a political hack of sorts. Now imagine what a rare item I must have seemed in 72-74, a long haired Liberal looking kid who was a staunch conservative and seemed to prescribe to the new philosophy of what would soon become the Libertarian agenda. Socially Liberal, Economically Conservative seemed an oxymoron in those days.

In the 7th grade I engaged my teacher (Mr Wilkins) in a debate that lasted all year. He was a coach and Social Studies teacher who was Liberal as hell, who loved to debate and was a big believer in free speech so he would allow me to argue with him far past what a normal teacher would accept. Students in the class loved it as it promoted a very different way of conducting lessons for five minutes or so a couple of times a week. Students liked Wilkins because he was the borderline teacher who was "cool". You know the one, the guy who turned his head the other way when catching kids smoking in the bathroom and stuff like that. Looking back i see what an irresponsible sort he was but in those days he of course was a student hero. It was sort unpopular for me to challenge him in the way I did in class and disagree with his philosophy constantly about economic philosophy. He gave me an A all year. It was the only A's I recieved in 7th grade.

I can distinctly remember the arguments that were made over and over with these three people. I can safely say that they possessed enough of an anti-big government agenda and opinion to know that even though they were democrats they would have barfed at today's Democratic Party agenda. My Wilkins would constantly accuse Republicans of being the party that aimed to control the personal lives of citizens. He made a pretty good argument as to this effect on many occasions. So did Mr. Clark when arguing with my grandpa. In those days, a Liberal's main talking point was how the right sought to shut the mouths of young Americans and keep them from influencing others. They were right! It is funny to see how each of these philosophies has influenced our current agendas. I remember the Liberals as being very anti-government in that regard being of course very different from today. I remember my grandpa sounding very much like my good friend Crin in his positions that government has strayed from its influence by God and how we needed to implement more "control" over our people's choices so as to keep them from supporting evil things like Abortion and another categoey he felt passionate about and that was the emergence of homosexuals. He felt all hippes were faggots. He hated my long hair and thought the kids I hung around were strange. He critisized their parents and said they were in bed with the devil.

Ironically he loved John Kennedy in earlier years however. He also admired Hubert Humphrey and crossed the line to vote for him against Nixon in 68. He critisized Nixon for shooting the peace sign when boarding Air Force One during a campagne stop. He also didn;t care for the Viet Nam War yet his buddies argued that it was the right thing....and they were Democrats. Very Confusing to a 14 year old to see these opinions cross lines so often. My grandpa strongly supported Nixon against McGovern and convinced my step father to vote for Nixon too. In closong....they were a mixed up bunch man! So it may not surprise you to learn that i was becoming a Libertarian in those days even as a new party was forming that would call itself exactly that out on the west coast.

Libertarians began as a very Socially Liberal party. It first membership list comprised in 1974 was included more x-Democrats than Republicans actually. Closet homos comprised a good amount of the membership I admit. One thing however that was solidly embedded in their initial philosophy was the belief that government was too big and needed to be kept in check. Some of their writings warned of people like Gramsci and how if we did not take immediate note to change our way of government it would be that philosophy that would infiltrate our thinking. They were right you know. America has moved a long ways toward Socialism since those days in the 70's. A dangerously long ways.

I believe by being a Conservative Libertarian I am a realist. We are not going to stop Abortion or Homosexuality or Drug Use by wishing it into existance. Only Government Control can stop these things. That in itself goes against everything the Republican Party platform is suppose to represent. It is the ultimate oxymoron in my opinion. In refusing to accept this we have stayed on board with a party that has given in time and time again to the Economic issues and agenda of the left and the Democratic Party. Now we find ourselves very unhappy and fighting for our economic lives as well as still facing the issues we refused to accept like Abortion and open Homosexuality. I don;t think Drug Use has curved very much either. That said, I would say we chose collectively the wrong road to hold our Social agenda as Republicans and allow the left to chip away at our Economic welfare in order to fund theirs. It was a prescription for failure from jump street. Now we realize a situation where 55% of the country comes from the left and 45% from the right. That is a big problem folks. When this snowball starts to run downhill mu friends it will take up speed very quickly. The hard part is over for the Socialists.

So Said1, I have indeed "read up" on my Gramsci. I realize the dangers associated with this type of warped political philosophy indeed. What I wonder is.........Do You?

I'm done!

Alas, even Martin the one to try and hold a hand out to the ner do well, has lost patience. Thus PB is in an echo chamber of his own making. How many times has he scoffed at the hand that wanted to find common ground? How many times has he ridiculed and responded with spam replies, as those trying to find middle ground are unworthy of his thinking?

He'll be dealt with, if choosing to return.
