Yet another example of a system gone horribly wrong.
Military recruiters are under such pressure to meet their quotas, they will often stoop to incredible lows. Once in, there is incredible resistance to allowing anyone to leave.
Where is the responsibility?

Show me a consistant pattern of this type of recruiting and I will concede you have a point. ONE incedent does not a problem make........

You as a mental health professional should know that the "autism" term is thrown around VERY liberaly these days. So someone listed with this condition can be a very normal functioning individual!!!

That's false- in fact, the reenlistment rate is so high, most recruiters have to be VERY picky about who they let in and who they don't.

For the past 10 years, the enlisted retention rates of the Army have exceeded 100 percent. As of last Nov. 13, Army re-enlistment was 137 percent of its stated goal.

Did the recruit finally produce his real long-form birth certificate from Hawaii? Or is that not needed simply to join the Marines?

Well, if the story is true, that recruiter should be drawn and quartered. I find it interesting that all that special education, etc didn't do a damn thing for him. So as long as we are pointing out failures be sure to include all that "special ed" and "psychiatric treatment" stuff that occured while the individual was growing up as well.
