what a disgrace Moran is

Share on Facebook | printer-friendly A moment of clarity from Howard Dean, courtesy of CNS News, who took this video at the town-hall forum of Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA). When an angry constituent wondered why a supposedly comprehensive “reform” of the health-care system doesn’t include tort reform to lower costs of malpractice insurance and reduce defensive medicine, Dean responds as “a doctor and a politician.” Apparently, neither has the courage to face the trial-lawyer lobby:

With the $2.3 trillion in annual expenditures for health care in this country, the $3.6 billion in annual jury awards for malpractice comes to about $12.00 per person per year. Tort reform is simply a canard used by the GOP to try and defend the status quo.

And the continued assertions from the right that Obama is s 'communist' or a 'dictator' belies the ignorance of those who use these epithets.

Welcome back BP - even if it is for a drive by post

I am still waiting for any lib to please tell me (before you pass Obamacare) how your party will pay for the much smaller version of Obamacare known as Medicare

It has, as of today, a deficit of $33 TRILLION in unfunded obligations

Also, how will Obama add 40 million people to the governments handout list and LOWER costs. Care will be rationed BP. You can't cut costs on the HEALTHY

Nice to see you back

Bully YOU know full well this is a straw man! The awards are but a drop in the bucket of actually defending the Dr.s', hospitals, and staff. YOU post only the "jury awards", how about you give us the totals that were "settled out of court", or how about the salaries of all those law firms that represent the health care industry. Come on bully give ALL the info not just one little part. YOU know that MOST cases are settled out of court (no jury award).......:poke:
