should people be allowed to DRIVE automobiles without a license to do so?

Should people be allowed to PURCHASE firearms without a license to do so?

should people be allowed to DRIVE automobiles without a license to do so?
Of course. Provided they drive them only where they can't endanger others.

But driving on public roads where others also have the right to drive, is a demonstrably dangerous activity. States should (and do) have the authority to require licenses for this activity.

Of course. purchasing a firearm in no way endangers others.

Furthermore, the Constitution bans any government from restricting your and my ability to keep and bear arms. That includes purchasing them. One of the many parts of the Constitution regulaly violated by governments in this country.

Next?

Provided they fire them only where they can't endanger others, except in self-defense

But shooting in public venues where others also have the right to walk, is a demonstrably dangerous activity. States should (and do) have the authority to require licenses for this activity.

A license requirement in no way restricts ones's ability to "keep and bear arms". It's purpose is to keep said firearms out of the hands of criminals, whose access to illegally obtained firearms remains unrestricted.

More backwards thinking from the left. Criminals are already unrestricted in obtaining firearms illegally and passing a law won't change that at all because criminals operate outside the law.

How do you propse a "license" will stop a criminal from obtaining a firearm "illegaly"... If they dont care about the law why in the world would they bother with a license????

You don't need a license to PURCHASE a car, just like you don't need a license to PURCHASE a firearm

YOU DO need a license to DRIVE a car, Just like you need a license to use your gun during hunting season, or have we all forgotten about that. Also if you want to carry a gun concealed you need a "license" in all states, if you want to cary a handgun you still need a license in some states regardless.

So the whole car/gun thing is just a bunch of BS made up by one of our board idiots.....

The Nazis need to know where you are before they can take your guns away. Licensing and registration allows them to do that.

You knwo all you have to do is look to Canada. They just recently had a "voluntary" gun hand over of "REGESTERD GUN OWNERS" This is what the libs want in this country. If they know you have them they can come and get them...... Maybe not today or tomorow but at some point in time they will want them......
