According to the liberal media, no matter what Obama screws up it is the Republican's fault.

At the Daily Kos, Obama's Olympic loss is Bush's fault!!!!!

Bush Visa Policy May Have Cost USA 2016 Olympics.

In spite of President Obama's lobbying efforts it appears that the reason Chicago was overlooked in the first round may have more to do with his predessesor than anything else. More below.

In the official question-and-answer session following the Chicago presentation, Syed Shahid Ali, an I.O.C. member from Pakistan, asked the toughest question. He wondered how smooth it would be for foreigners to enter the United States for the Games because doing so can sometimes, he said, be "a rather harrowing experience."

The same anti-visa policy set up post-9/11 by the same screw ups that brought you the last eight years may have cost the US the 2016 Olympics. This is not to say that this is set in stone and the ultimate reason for the denial, but it couldn't have helped our chances. There are, of course, other reasons to decry this policy as well, seeing as how it is a detriment to higher education.
It seems conservatives have much to answer for, and little to offer in the way of critique, though you'd never know it by listening to a conservative politician or pundit. When Medicare and Medicaid were passed in 1965 Ronald Reagan decried the policy as "socialist" and "anti-freedom." He was wrong. When did he atone for his mistaken prophecy? Well, when he gutted welfare and Medicaid as president, of course! And so it goes, as Kurt Vonnegut so eloquently put it. Conservatives now, wrongly, believe that this is President Obama's loss. Hah! Turns out, it may have been Bush's failure all along! Yet I won't cheer for the failure of George W. Bush. We have lost much due to his lack of leadership, and that is nothing to cheer about. Something conservatives should ponder when they cheer any failure by any president. I think the difference between the two ideologies is this:
--Liberals point out the actual faults of conservative leadership and suggest a better solution.
--Conservatives point at a liberal and say, "Durn Comma-NIST!"

Or maybe the world has watched our leader apologies for us and realize the unrest here and don't want no part of what is coming

In the Olympic games there are winners and and there are losers. Hard work is rewarded. Everyone competes on a level playing field

What really is the big deal about who got the Olympics? It seems like the US has hosted many Olympics and it only seems fair to have a few more out side of the US and Europe for that matter too. I don't see how this is a "failure" for America at all, its just a sporting event that lasts a couple of weeks. I think libs are just mad that McChimpy embarrassed himself by flying out and lobbying for this and it had no effect. A President should never do this sort of thing.

As for the economic side of it, our economy needs a real boost and real growth, not temporary such as a sporting event.

Shocked TV Journalists Absolve Obama, Insist IOC Rebuke Won't Hurt President
By Brent Baker (Bio | Archive)
October 2, 2009 - 21:22 ET

The broadcast evening networks all led Friday night not with the jump in the unemployment rate to 9.8%, but with the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) rejection of Chicago's bid, stories which reflected the premise Chicago lost “despite” or “in spite” of the “star-studded U.S. appeal from Oprah to the Obamas,” while ABC's Charles Gibson absolved President Barack Obama by pressing for confirmation of “some anti-American sentiment here?” and whether “this is seen as a poke in the eye to the President himself or...to the U.S.?” George Stephanopoulos assured viewers:

If the President gets a health care bill this fall, if the economy starts to turn around, if he can build an international coalition to take on Iran's nuclear program, none of this will matter.

A lot of ifs.

On Wednesday night, CBS anchor Katie Couric had declared “the 'Dream Team' pushing Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympic summer games is nearly complete” and was just awaiting “team captain” President Barack Obama who “arrives Friday ahead of the final vote.” After the vote, Couric remained impressed by the effort, teasing Friday's CBS Evening News: “Tonight, Chicago hope dashed. Despite a high-powered, star-studded U.S. appeal from Oprah to the Obamas, the Olympics are awarded to Rio.”

On ABC, Chris Bury echoed that Chicago's elimination came “in spite of those personal closing arguments from its premiere power couple.”

Um, we are talking about where the Olympics are held. We aren't talking about war... which btw you're a freaking hypocrite for being upset and cheering our defeat in the war. That's a side issue, however, and sadly your corrupt nature has absolutely nothing to do with this.

The Olympics werent started for the United States to get rich. They were started so that all the nations in the world can peacefully compete and celebrate our lives together on this planet. Your decision to act as though this is war is exactly why Chicago shouldn't get the games. You don't care about the meaning of the games. Now is a chance for Brazil to host. It will be the first time a South American city will host. Course, you don't care about that. You're just angry that the Olympics will be hosted by a city of hispanics. And Obama's friends wont be getting their payoff.

Oh, and btw, when we actually do compete, US will kick ass.

and now the NY Times is editing their own articles to help Obama after his olympic failure

SCRUBBED (AGAIN): NYT Scrubs More From Their Olympic FAIL Article . .
I wonder how many WH calls it took, to get this article the way they wanted it . . .

As I noted HERE earlier, the NYT has scrubbed some major parts of this story, including damning quotes by both Rahm (“I think they should take some pride in the U.S.’s win, and you know, we’ll make sure they get some good seats once Chicago does host the games.”) and Obama (“In 2016, I’ll be wrapping up my second term as president,” he told a rally in Chicago in June 2008. “So I can’t think of a better way than to be marching into Washington Park ... as president of the United States and announcing to the world: Let the Games begin!”).

Well, they used some more 'BOpolish'. It went from this:

Mr. Gibbs dismissed the criticism as inevitable partisan carping. “There’s people trying to solve problems and there’s people playing games,” he said. “If he hadn’t come, people would have said, ‘I can’t believe he didn’t go.’
...

For months, Mr. Obama and his crew have approached this competition with all the intensity of the Iowa caucuses. Mr. Obama taped five video messages pitching Chicago’s bid, created an Olympic office within the White House and hosted Olympic athletes on the South Lawn. For the past couple weeks, he worked the phones, calling some heads of state, and lobbied others at the United Nations opening session in New York and Group of 20 economic summit in Pittsburgh last week.

He put Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to work making calls and sent Michelle Obama to Copenhagen a couple of days early to buttonhole committee members. His senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, consulted with Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, whose personal lobbying won London the 2012 Summer Games.

Before leaving Washington, Mrs. Obama made clear how seriously the first couple took the matter, saying “the gloves are off” and they would “take no prisoners.”

To this:

Barry Bowlus, one of those waiting in Daley Plaza, said that at least Mr. Obama had tried. Had he not gone at all, Mr. Bowlus said, “there would have been a lot more heck for him to pay around here.”
...

How much it cost taxpayers to fly Air Force One and its backup plane, transport the armored presidential limousines across the ocean and provide security for the whirlwind trip was uncertain.

...

A sense of stunned bewilderment suffused Air Force One and the White House. Only after the defeat did many advisers ask questions about the byzantine politics of the Olympic committee. Valerie Jarrett, the president’s senior adviser and a Chicago booster who persuaded him to make the trip while at the United Nations last week, had repeatedly compared the contest to the Iowa caucuses.

But officials said the administration did not independently verify Chicago’s chances, relying instead on the Chicago 2016 committee assertions that the city had enough support to finish in the top two. Mr. Obama, Michelle Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Ms. Jarrett worked the phones in recent weeks without coming away with a sense of how behind Chicago really was.

Now it is Bush's fault Obama bungled it

Chicago Sun-Times Blames Olympics Loss On...Bush!

President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for years."

So claim some famous and some notso famous Chicagoans is the reason the Windy City lost its bid for the 2016 Olympics Friday.

And the Chicago Sun-Times was more than willing to quote them all on Saturday:

"There must be" resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. "The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That's why I thought the president's going was the deal-maker."

Wow! Someone should tell Jackson America refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty in -- wait for it -- 1997! But there's more:

State Rep. Susana Mendoza (D-Chicago) said she saw firsthand the resentment against America five years ago when she was in Rio de Janeiro. "I feel in my gut that this vote today was political and mean-spirited," she said.

"I travel a lot. ... I thought we had really turned a corner with the election of President Obama. People are so much more welcoming of Americans now. But this isn't the people of those countries. This is the leaders still living with outdated impressions of Americans."

Wow! So when she travelled to Rio in 2004, there was resentment towards America. Wasn't that all supposed to change with the election of Obama?

Apparently not:

U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said she was approached by a consul general at the plaza as they waited for word Friday. "He said ... he was hearing that there wasn't enough time for Barack Obama to dispel the old image. ... But I don't know if that's it."

Well, if you don't know if that's it, why repeat it?

I saw a article last night were they tried, they repeated all his promises and stated they are almost there :laugh2:

House Overview: Could 2010 Be the “Year of the Angry White Senior?

September 3, 2009

Assessing the Climate

"You could feel the ground moving," said GOP California Rep. Kevin McCarthy of his recess candidate recruitment tour. The Republican base he saw is "much more motivated than you've seen in years."

No question, August proved cathartic for voters and chaotic for congressional Democrats. But way before the town hall meetings during recess, there were ample signs for Democrats to fear for their careers in 2010. First and foremost, the midterm electorate appears tailor-made for Republicans, even in ways it wasn’t in 1994.

As The Hotline’s Amy Walter wisely pointed out, 1994 became the “angry white male” election because those who were displeased with the direction of the country were “more engaged than those who just two years earlier were voting for Bill Clinton and singing ‘don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.’” But “angry” is only a third of “angry white male,” and anger is only part of the story today.

True enough, the gender gap was the exit poll takeaway of the 1990s, and encouraged cultural observers’ perceptions of the Republican Revolution. In 1996, Bill Clinton won 54 percent to 38 percent among women, but lost men 44 percent to 43 percent. And as recently as 2000, Democrats were winning the two-party presidential vote by 11 points among women but losing by 11 points among men.

Today's divide, however, is the generation gap – no, make that gulf – that characterized President Obama’s victory in 2008. In 1992 and 2000, Bill Clinton and Al Gore performed just slightly better among voters 60 and older than they did among voters 18 to 29 years of age. But in 2008, Obama won 66 percent of voters 18 to 29 and just 45 percent of voters 65 and older – a staggering 21 point difference.

worried? not at all.

do presidential parties routinely lose seats in the first midterm? yes.

Do I think democrats will lose seats in both the senate and the house? of course we will.

Do I think that we will lose control of either chamber? I do not.... apparently you do.

But then, I didn't think that Guiliani OR Clinton would be the nominees in 2008 either... so I got that goin' for me.:laugh2:

Chicago can blame themselves for not getting a shot a having the olympics hosted there. Considering it's been filled with corruption over the last several decades and lots of negativity coming out of it, why wouldn't the olympics NOT want to hold the games there? Duh! Seems like a clear cut case of common sense to me....

I wonder how BO felt when he learned that it wasn't going to be held there....hmmmm......and to think he couldn't influence them ....that must have hurt......ouch...........a bruised ego.....

Well, well, well, he has certainly been busy, rushing here and there, opening his mouth to kiss up to the wrong people. Since we're the ones that elected him, it would seem he'd want to kiss up to we, the people. But no..........he's happy as a fat baby farting, to be ripping away at America and shredding her to bits and pieces.....

Let me get this straight......isn't he "the one"? I have yet to figure out what "the one" was suppose to be...........wait a minute.....now I remember....One big ass mistake.......the one who thinks he's God. The one who is smooching it up with our enemies....The one who is wanting to be the head honcho of all the world.........Yeah, that one.

Only drones like you think the Feds can lower the cost, improve the service, and add 40 million to the rolls while doing it Virgil

So how will you explain the massive tax increases, the cuts in Medicare, and the rationed service to seniors?

Why will it take 3 to 4 years for Obamacare to take effect?

Seems there is alot of work to do - like getting Dems to vote for this shity bill - before you thump your chest on another political win Virgil
