Newt Gingrich and Al Sharpton are headed to Tucson.
The presumptive presidential candidate and the former presidential candidate will arrive at BASIS Tucson on Oct. 1 to view how the charter nationally ranked by Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report has been so successful.
The two have been touring cities across the country with Education Secretary Arne Duncan highlighting President Barack Obama's education policies.
Gingrich and Sharpton met Robert Compton, a documentary filmmaker, at the Republic National Convention, where Sharpton spoke. Compton featured BASIS in his documentary "2 Million Minutes: the 21st Century Solution" before telling Sharpton and Gingrich about the school. The three men and the BASIS administrators viewed a screening of the film Thursday evening in Washington, D.C
