Bob Griese suspended for a week for this? The guy he made the joke about did not care, why should ESPN?

College football analyst and former Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese was suspended for a week by ESPN because of a remark he made about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya while announcing this past weekend's Minnesota-Ohio State game.

ESPN's Mike Humes said Griese was taken off his assignment next weekend but will return the following weekend.

During Saturday's broadcast, ESPN ran a graphic listing the top five drivers in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup. Fellow analyst Chris Spielman asked about the whereabouts of Montoya, who is Colombian. Griese replied that he was ``out having a taco.''

Griese apologized for the remark twice on air Saturday. ESPN called the remark ``inappropriate'' and said Griese ``understands his comment was uncalled for.''

Montoya, a Miami resident, told reporters after Sunday's Sprint Cup series race that he ``couldn't resist making fun of the controversy. I could say I just spent the last three hours eating tacos, but I was driving the car.'' Montoya said of Griese, ``I don't even know who he is and I don't really care.''
