Occasionally a ray of light shines through the dark clouds. Sounds like more and more people are starting to realize that the laws forbidding responsible, law-abiding people from carrying weapons at Virgina Tech, resulted in more harm than good.

The people who wrote the Constitution (and the 2nd amendment) knew that more than 200 years ago. Too bad it took so long, and so many wasted lives, for their descendents to learn the same truth. Some still don't get it, but at least their numbers are diminishing.

TN moves to allow guns in public buildings

NASHVILLE — In a surprise move, a House panel voted today to repeal a state law that forbids the carrying of handguns on property and buildings owned by state, county and city governments — including parks and playgrounds.

"I think the recent Virginia disaster — or catastrophe or nightmare or whatever you want to call it — has woken up a lot of people to the need for having guns available to law-abiding citizens," said Rep. Frank Niceley, R-Strawberry Plains. "I hope that is what this vote reflects."
