Too true! The last senator who yesterday appeared to actually have some
dignity and free thought processes sold out like a prostitute on a street corner.

BOs his pimp!

Cornhusker Kickback: Dems Give Nebraska Special “Lifetime” Medicaid Break For Nelson’s Vote (Video)

Bought and Paid For–
Democrats bought off Senator Nelson’s vote with a special Medicaid break for the State of Nebraska that will last forever.

While most states will struggle with the rising costs of Medicaid under the democrat’s plan, Nebraska will be the lone exception… forever.

It looks like the rest of the 49 states are just suckers.

** “As part of the deal to win Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s support, the federal government will fund Nebraska’s new Medicaid recipients. It’s a provision worth about $45 million over the first decade.” (Chris Frates, “Ben Nelson’s Medicaid deal,” Politico, 12/19/09)

** “Reid already has established a dangerous precedent, by dangling $300 million in Medicaid funding for Louisiana to win Landrieu’s support for bringing the bill to the Senate floor.” (Shailagh Murray, “Reid’s recipe for getting health-care deal done,” Washington Post, 12/04/09)

** Senator Mary Landrieu “walked onto the Senate floor midafternoon Saturday to announce her aye vote – and to trumpet the financial ‘fix’ she had arranged for Louisiana. ‘I am not going to be defensive,’ she declared. ‘And it’s not a $100 million fix. It’s a $300 million fix.’” (Dana Milbank, “Sweeteners for the South,” Washington Post, 11/22/09)

** “By the time this thing is done, the millions for Louisiana will look like a bargain.” (Dana Milbank, “Sweeteners for the South,” Washington Post, 11/22/09)

** “Reid had carved out his own Medicaid exemption for Nevada.” (Shailagh Murray, “Reid’s recipe for getting health-care deal done,” Washington Post, 12/04/09)

** “[Senator Max] Baucus has modified the bill to spare Nevada and three other states, and [Senator Harry] Reid, who faces a potentially difficult race for re-election next year, is taking credit for getting a ‘major increase’ in federal money for his state … only four states meet the criteria: Michigan, Nevada, Oregon and Rhode Island … The changes came at the expense of other states … which would see significant increases in state Medicaid spending under the new formula.” (Robert Pear, “Majority Leader Protects Home State,” New York Times, 9/28/09)

** “Senators Charles Schumer of New York, Bill Nelson of Florida and Ron Wyden of Oregon are among those who secured special provisions shielding constituents from [Medicare Advantage] cuts. [Senator Bob] Casey says he wants ‘very comparable’ protections for his state …” (Brian Faler, “Obama’s Planned Medicare Cuts Distress Some Democrats,” Bloomberg, 12/03/09)

Still More… Big Government has the text for Nelson’s bribe.

Americans for Tax Reform has a list of the tax hikes in the democrat’s bill.

Whether socialized health care is a good idea or a bad idea is moot. The fact is that socialized health care is an *expensive* idea. Over 1.2 Trillion dollars a year! And the question that should be asked is... just how is this all going to be paid for? Taxation? You must be joking, the entire US economy is 15 Trillion dollars per year... just how are you going to raise taxes to that extent and not plunge this country into a deep dark depression? Borrow the money? You must be tripping, the Chinese are telling us no more credit (and isn't there something wrong with that picture? The Chinese are telling us how to run our finances).

No, socialized health care is a bad idea if only from a purely financial standpoint. I could tell some stories from my relatives in sunny Italy, a country that has socialized health care, but it would be superfluous.

The only good thing about socialized health care is that it will drive the final nail in the coffin of this band of bandits that is running this country into the ground. I cannot wait to vote this current bunch of jokers out of office. (... not to mention that other joker in the White House, you know, Barak O Blunder, the one with the wife with great fashion sense)

If a Republican Congress takes over in 2011, the first item on their agenda is to repeal this piece of garbage legislation before it's too late.

Medicare has about $33 TRILLION in unfuded liabilities, and Social Security has about $23 Trillion in unfunded mandates - the Dems are creating another entitlement program. These bills must be paid sometime

Dem's answer to the problem? Add MORE people to the program

Make more people dependent on the government program - then continue to raise taxes pn those who still have a job, to fund the bottomless pit

The vcost of Obamacare will exceed $2 trillion over the next 10 years - and keep the books open because every estimate I have seen for any government program is way off

As far as repealing Obamacare - good luck. Getting rid of any government program once it is on the books is a major accomplishment. Dems will trot out their "victims" and their allies in the liberal media will go out and find women, children, and minorities who are most hurt by the programs repeal
