I hope the Republicans pass on this health care summit. It is clear Obama and Reid have made their minds up to ram Obamacare thru regardless of what happens at this summit

Novemeber is coming, and I hope Harry remembers his words the days after the election, and will not cry over his re-election loss

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters Tuesday that Republicans "should stop crying" about the possible use of the parliamentary procedure known as budget reconciliation to pass a health care reform bill.

Reid said reconciliation had been used 21 times since 1981, mostly by Republicans when they were in control of the Senate for the passage of items like the Bush tax cuts.

Under reconciliation, Democrats would need a simple majority in the Senate to pass legislation, as opposed to the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster.

"They should stop crying about reconciliation as if it's never been done before," Reid said.

Following Senate Democrats' weekly luncheon, Reid said "nothing is off the table" but that "realistically, they should stop crying about this. It's been done 21 times before."

"The question is: Is reconciliation the only way we can do health-care reform?" he said. "The answer to that is no. But I've been told that my Republican friends are lamenting reconciliation, but I would recommend for them to go back and look at history."

how many of those 21 times was it used for something that the people didn't want... or at least didn't want rammed down their throats?

Dems have been waiting for their chance to take over the nations health care industry since FDR

This is as close as they have ever come, so they will do anything to gain the power and control over every citizen

If Dems thought they saw the anger of the people at Town Halls, wait for the reaction if they cheat and change the rules to ram Obamacare thru

How do you reconcile a bill that isnt about the budget?

By turning the entire Health Care bill into an amendment, and attaching it to a budget.

Sure, Budget Reconciliation (its full name) has been done 21 times before. On budget items. Tax cuts, tax increases, spending amounts, etc. Never on
Defense bills, EPA regulations, etc.; and certainly not on entire new plans to have the government socialize 1/6 of the nation's entire economy.

Reid's words are typical leftist diversion: Make the process seem like something it's not and never has been. How long will it be before the Mainstream Media points out the huge difference between Reid's implications, and the truth?

Let them use the nuclear option, since the People will use theirs to vote them out of office in November and then again in 2012. Then, with the filibuster gone, Republicans can use a slim majority to reform health care back to the private sector.

Of course, these same hacks are all for the nuclear option today. They want to ram their unpopular socialist health care package through Congress and have no other option.

Breitbart TV brings you this flash from the past:

That works well except for the fact that as long as Obama is President he can veto any bill they vote for to reverse this crap.

That works well except for the fact that as long as Obama is President he can veto any bill they vote for to reverse this crap. In 2010 they can choose not to fund it, and in 2012 Obama will be gone.
