He just reported that the total from his annual cure-a-than to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma is 3,000,000 dollars, he started it with a personal donation of 300,000 dollars adding more through out his show. They did this during his 3 hour program.

Yea those fucking asshole ditto heads, what a bunch of mindless jerks right?
Stupid conservative devils!!!!!

Only because it benefits the liberals more than conservatives by a 2-1 margin.

Oh, and what lies? Point them all out, and we can debate them.

Lies? What liar are you quoting or do you actually listen to his show and have actually witnessed a lie? Prove it.

He has raised over 13 million over the last 17 years (probably closer to 20 million)doing the same show each year, anyone besides Jerry Lewis that you can think of that has equaled that, anything close, anyone from the Hollywood professional bleeding hearts that make 20 million per film?

I didn't think so.

I've never stated that Limbaugh was an evil person. I merely disagree with much of his , hate-filled rhetoric.
As for his fund-raising activities, a lot of celebrities lend their names to such. Rush can now go have a beer with Jerry Lewis.

It's not so much a claim, as an attempt to change the subject. Sam does that a lot, when she doesn't like someone's point but can't refute it.

Notice that it worked. Not many people on this thread, are discussing Limbaugh's charitable work any more. Why should she give up such an effective obfuscation tactic? Particularly when it's easier than acknowledging the truth?

Back to the subject:
Yes, Limbaugh raises quite a lot of money for such charities, as well as donating himself. He doesn't make a big deal of it, except during the actual times the charity work is going on. Many conservatives are like that.

Bob Dole got the usual accusations of being cruel, heartless etc. when he ran for President in 1996. He ignored tham, as most conservatives do. It wasn't until some news bug did a lot of digging, did the fact come out that he hand his wife do a lot of charity work in private, donating time, effort, and money to several groups helping the handicapped. Dole had never mentioned them, but he did them.

EXACTLY! it's the Poisoning-the-well Logical Fallacy, closely. Its "I don't like the message, so instead of addressing the FACTS of the message, I'll simply attack the messenger!"

I do listen to Limbaugh on occasion. My husband is a fan. All his statements and opinion are made from one side of the political spectrum.
I would rather listen to an entire Limbaugh program than 15 minutes of Hannity or one of the like Fox yahoos. Limbaugh does have considerable intelligence. He needs to come into the light.

Of course his view points are going to come from one side of the political spectrum. They are HIS view points. What kind of person would be schizophrenic enough to take opposing viewpoints on a radio show? I could just see it now:

I agree with this point.

No Im against it...

Blah blah blah. The guy would be completely insane.

Hannity gives you opposing viewpoints and it seems you care less for him.

Gabo's definition of "hate-filled rhetoric":

It doesn't fit my uber, pisa tower leaning left-wingasaurus world view, thus it is hate-filled.

Wait! You mean when he said he refused to carry the water for the Republicans anymore he didn't switch sides?

Little-Acorn

You mean when he said he refused to carry the water for the Republicans anymore he didn't switch sides?

Correct. It was those Republicans who had switched sides, doing more and more non-conservative things. Limbaugh has stayed as conservative as he started out. Though that isn't and has never been, 100% conservative. He's in the high 80's or 90s.

As you know, Ronald Reagan was a member of the Democrat party early on. But as the Democrats became more and more liberal and less law-abiding, he finally quit the party and joined the Republicans. He later said, "I didn't leave the Democrat party. The Democrat party left me."

Limbaugh can say the same thing about those Republicans who keep pushing for new perscription-drug entitlements, Campaign Finance "reform", amnesty for illegal aliens, etc. Just because they kept their Republican Party membership cards or whatever, doesn't mean they haven't switched sides.

The thing about Rush is that he is very funny and Paul Shanklin, the guy that does the parodies for him, is extremely talented. The latest Al Sharpton bits with the bullhorn are hillarious.

What most on the left don't seem to understand is his audience, they aren't the mind numbed robots they believe they are. My Dad started listening to him over 14 years ago and got me to start . He liked him because felt that he heard his view points being verbalized nationally by Rush. That is what I finally realized after tuning in every once in awhile. I didn't like him at first because I didn't get his humor, I thought he was as radical as he sounded, he isn't. He responds reciprocally to others and exagerates to get points across. The whole Fem-a-nazi thing was directed at a very few extremely radical feminist, he hasn't used that term for over ten years now and he still gets quoted as saying it. Camille Paglia agreed with him on that term for the ones that ruined feminism.

The work I have done for the last 20 years allows me to listen to his show almost everyday, he has been like a friend when I was away from home( for the last ten years I would average about 20 days on the road a month).

Just in my family alone there are 3 airline Captains, a musician, an accountant, an artist, and my 83 year old Mother that all love his show, hardly what could be described as neocons. Before my father died he listened to him twice a day, mostly in the background while he built his R/C planes. It helped bring he and I together as friends after many years of my being the family liberal, we had many great political discussions fueled by what he or I heard on his show. He is also very responsible for my interest in politics today.
