Gaffer has earned the MOTM award for March of 2010! He easily could have earned this award many times over, as he has been with us since January of 2007, and also with us at my old board. Additionally, I am once again proud to give this award to a veteran of the US Military. I wish I could collectively give it to all of our veterans posting here, but they too will have their day. :)

Congrats, Gaffer!

Enjoy the parking space.

:laugh2: Perhaps Jim should create a special something for our MOM's. I have to think on it now.

Good question, Glock.
Samwise refers to his father as Gaffer in LOTR. In general, it refers to an old man.

Thank you everyone. Was a surprise when I got on today I was the poster child.

Good call Abbey, the name does come from LOTR and Sam's old gaffer. Meaning the old man. And yes to Noir, I am a combat vet. My avatar is my old unit patch. I feel very honored today. Thanks again.

Awesome, and just as a side note on the name, the word 'Gaffer' has 2 meanings in the UK (i dunno if its the same in the US)

But over here it means a hard worker (i.e. He's a good gaffer) or that you are the boss (i.e. you'll have to speak to the gaffer)

Thanks Noir I thought there were other meanings to it but never knew what they were.

Thanks Mr. P. I did a lot of that. That would be me in the door with his legs hanging out.
