Remember the Super Bowl commercial about a farcical environmental "Green Police" force, busting people for putting orange rinds in the wrong place, asking for plastic instead of paper, etc.? It was hilarious, and became one of the most enjoyed commercials in a game noteworthy for its well-done, humorous ads.

Someone in England apparently decided it was an instruction manual instead of a joke. And being in the government, he actually had the power to DO it... and did!

Drivers who leave their car engines running while their car is parked face being fined as part of a new town hall initiative.

North Lincolnshire Council will issue £20 tickets to ‘irresponsible drivers who are not considering the environment’. They say it will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and tackle climate change.

Other councils across Britain are also considering introducing similar laws after being set air quality targets by ministers in Whitehall.

Little-Acorn this has been going on for a few years for big trucks, most states but especially the North east have laws about idling, I am sitting here in Mass and looking at a sign that says no idling of any truck weighing more than 26000 lbs for more than 3 mins, We run our heat and a/c off the engine, but it don't matter if ya get caught idling it is a hefty fine, Now if ya have a dog or a cat in the truck with ya you can idle, or it would be cruelty to animals,:eek: So the Government has basically made it mandatory to buy a unit to run your a/c and heat, but if you go to Cali they are illegal out there, the diesel operated ones, they have to have a exhaust coming out above the truck , but if you send it threw the stacks then you altered the exhaust system so it is illegal LOL, WE installed all battery operated units on our trucks and as of yet Cali hasn't found a way to make them illegal, but they will, LOL
