View Full Version : Obama's Job Approval Rating Sinks to All-Time Low

Looks like all that hope and change is not being well received by the voters

President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 46 percent in the latest Gallup poll.

Obama's numbers are even lower in the Rasmussen Reports, which shows his rating at 44 percent.

The bad news comes as the president attempts to rally wary congressional Democrats around health care reform in a yearlong debate that by all accounts has entered its final stage.

Many Democrats are reluctant about the president's plan to push health care across the goal line with the help of reconciliation, an unusual budgetary maneuver that avoids a GOP filibuster, allowing Congress to pass and adjust the Senate's bill with a simple majority in the Senate.

Some Democrats fear voters will punish them at the polls in November's midterm elections if they pass a partisan bill that Republicans have steadfastly opposed.

The new job approval ratings for the president could further worry Democrats up for re-election who see no upside in having an increasingly unpopular president stump for them.

On the other hand, if the president's signature initiative fails, his entire legislative agenda is in jeopardy -- including climate change, education reform and immigration overhaul -- as a loss would be expected to embolden the Republican opposition and harden political gridlock.

And today it's up to 47 and 45 on Gallup and Rasmussen respectively. There's an AP poll that gave him a 53% approval rating, who cares, nothing but poll wanking.

Yet during the Bush years, the left and their allies in the liberal media, loved to talk about the approval ratings of Pres Bush and the Republican Congress

Now those same people could not care less about Obama's and the Dem Congress's approval ratings

Again, I find it funny the left and liberal media no longer cares about polls

A former poster here had a hard time admitting Obama dropped below 50% for the first time. He kept going to Real Clear Politics average of polls, and was always bellowing how the average was above 50%

Well, even the average is below 40% and the Reid/Pelosi Congres is in the teens.

To bad, that poster is no longer around. His spin would provide a good laugh and show how desperate libs are to defend their failed man child President

Really, I find it funny that the same people who told me we should let history judge Bush's years in the Oval Office, are the same ones now(and several months before that) telling me that President Obama is a failure right now. I remember Sean hannity lambasting liberals for criticizing President Bush during a time of war, last I recall we're still fighting two wars and Hannity is calling the President a failure and a socialist lol.

Hypocrisy is ripe on both sides.

48.8%, that's a bit above 40%. I like RCP, even if they do have a habit of shoving outliers from Rasmussen and Democracy Corps into their averages.

There are no excuses fir Congress's approval ratings, at least on the Senate side. To be fair, the House actually has passed legislation, they are at least trying, which more than I can say for the Senate which is a giant clusterfuck.

To bad, that poster is no longer around. His spin would provide a good laugh and show how desperate libs are to defend their failed man child President

You can not like any of his policies, but really to call him a "failed man-child" is a bit over-the-top. No failed man-child could ever defeat Bill and Hillary Clinton, I'm just saying.

He is a failed man child President

No mater what room Obama walks in - he is the least experienced man in the room.

He has gone thru life being told how great he is, how smart he is, and has never been told he is worng on the issues

He is in way over his head - and the nation is paying for it

The Clintons beat the Clintons. They ran a lousy campaign, and Bill pissed off to many people

Srsly, your avatar is the President bowing to a teleprompter. What's next? A hamburger with mustard?

Better than Nixon who bowed to Emperor Hirohito?

Better than Eisenhower who bowed to the PM of France at the time?

Better than Bush Sr. who bowed to Hirohito's body at his funeral?

I love it when Dems go back to Bush to try and defend Obama. Considering Dems ran against Bush and told us how Obama was not Bush

I don't think any of the Presidents -needed- to bow, it's just a courtesy. I really don't give a crap one way or another. I find it amusing that Republicans didn't care until a Democrat did it, they love bowing to foreign leaders lol

It's not the truth, it's your opinion. My opinion is that apples taste better than oranges, and a lot of people will likely agree. Even so, it's at best a subjective truth which is only true in my opinion. Same goes with your "failed man-child" belief.

Even the WH says a bow is not a bow - when it is

The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets.

"It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Washington Times called the alleged bow a "shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate" and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing, or at least it reportedly did on the occasion of a Clinton "near-bow" to the emperor of Japan.

Exactly. Compare the Cap'n's pics of other Presidents' bows with the one of Obama- they are quite different. Whether or not this is important is debatable, but there is definitely a big difference.

Regardless, the trend is what is important. Obama's approval rating is definitely trending downward. Unless there is a turnaround in the economy, my guess is that it will get worse over time.

Yep, which is why all the talk about bowing, birth place, what he eats, smokes, etc., just allows for distraction from what the worst president really is doing or not doing.

He's made a mess of foreign affairs. Bending over for sworn enemies and flipping off allies.

Using Chicago Way politics to create a true loss of confidence in our government, not just politicians.

Is on the precipice of throwing 1/6 of our economy over, something the country may not be able to recover from.

There are so many serious issues here today and yet to often it's the canaries that are throwing the distractions from those very issues.

What are those serious issues?

To me they are the insane spending and rising debt - where interest alone on that debt will cripple us in a few years

A Congress that openly bribes members for votes - using taxpayer moeny we do not have

A President that flips off voters that are opposed to his current obsession - health care reform - while those voters want jobs in a sinking economy

Foreign policy that is making enemies out of nations that were frineds - and making are enemies more bold and brazen in their behavior

Meanwhile, those who still support this administration and Congress fall back on the previous administration for their excuses. As well the usual attacks on anyone who does not blindly support these failed and dangerous polcies

If terrorists are still wanting to destory America they better hurry. Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, may beat them to it

Of course substantive issues like the economy and healthcare are more important than the way Hussein bows to foreign leaders.

But that does not mean the bowing and scraping are irrelevant. They are indicative of either a decidedly non-American attitude of obeisance, or at the least, ignorance of image and protocols. There are reasons why everything State leaders do is choreographed to an inch. Podiums and flags are placed at certain height, chairs face certain ways, etc., etc.

I do not subscribe to all-or-nothing attitudes when it comes to news. There is plenty of internet space and plenty of newsprint to cover tons of issues. I want to hear about both kinds of issues, substantive and image-oriented.

Btw, I wouldn't place the birthers issue alongside improper bowing, and certainly not with smoking. I am not involved with it, but if the man is indeed ineligible to be President, we need to know and decide what to do about it. If nothing else, we would have a bold-faced liar who is willing to ignore the Constitution in the Oval Office.

My point is that it's too easy to blast the 'non-issues' and drown out the voices of serious debacles that are becoming daily events, that threaten even our great grandchildren's generation now.
