He's usually right.

I'd support the VAT if they got rid of the income tax, but that's not exactly the Democrat's plan.

When was the last time that the US Federal government actually eliminated ANY tax?

In Britain, where a VAT is already in place, they are considering expanding it to include groceries....

Here in New York, food, medicine, clothing under $100 is exempt from sales tax.

VAT Tax Coming?

That's what an income tax is.

Do you mean, ANOTHER VAT tax coming?

They'll have to pay for it somehow.

All those loonies out there praising bambam have their heads up their butts if they think only rich people are going to see a tax increase.

VAT is how Europe pays for it's system, it's a cash cow and gets EVERYONE.

Dialouge from the movie "Popeye", which seems to be very relevant to this administration...

In the beginning of the movie, Popeye arrives in town and the first person he meets is the local tax collector....

<DD>The Taxman: You just docked. <DD>Popeye: I has. <DD>The Taxman: Ah ha, let's see here, that'll be 25 cents docking tax. <DD>Popeye: What for? <DD>The Taxman: Where's your sea craft? <DD>Popeye: It ain't no sea craft, it's me dinghy and it's under the wharf. <DD>The Taxman: Ah ha. aah-ha. This your goods? <DD>Popeye: They is. <DD>The Taxman: Yeah. You're new in town right? <DD>Popeye: If you call this a town, yes. <DD>The Taxman: Well, first of all, there's 17 cents new in town tax, and there's 45 cents rowboat-under-the-wharf tax, and one dollar leaving-your-junk-lying-around-the-wharf tax, so all together, you owe the Commodore $1.87. <DD>Popeye: Uh, who's this Commodore? <DD>The Taxman: Is the nature of question? There's a nickel question tax.

VAT is basically a federal sales tax and all purchases. It's regressive in all ways.
