Spent the weekend at my friend's second home, in Crown Point, IN, Lakes of the Four Seasons. Good girls weekend, even went to the casinos, courtesy of my friends, yes I won! LOL! (As soon as I get ahead, I quit.) ;)

Anyhow, I'm going to put in applications to Crown Point, Hobart, and Merrillville school districts. Even if all I can start with is substituting, I can stay at my friend's home during the week.

This could be a way for me to get out of IL and still be within an hour or so of home.

Very nice Kathianne, I've thought about Indiana as a nice place to live too. Let us know how it goes with the job hunting.

Just don't tell to many people, we don't want everyone crowding in and messing up the place.:coffee:

My friend's home is a bi-level, 3 bd, 3 ba, fireplace, huge family room, LR, DR, basement, screened porch. 2.5 car garage. Brick and cedar. I'd estimate about 3500 sq ft. Front yard is fine for say, playing catch. Backyard big enough for deck, pool, and trampoline. Taxes are under 1700 per year.

I've a 3 bd, 1.5 ba, FP, LR, DR, basement. Townhome, I 'own' about 18 inches around my house. My taxes are over 4k and rising. Same tax problem on sales and other taxes.

Holy crap!

Our house is about 3500 sq ft (not counting basement), 5 bedroom, on just shy of 2 acres. I've complained about our taxes, but I won't any more.

IL is terrible on taxes and COL is oppressive. My home is selling now in low 200's. Her's in low $130's, thus taxes don't look so different, but they are. salaries are not that different, thus money goes much further in IN.

I hired a guy who lived in Santa Claus once. When I first looked at his resume, I thought it was a gag.
