on this day the first abomb is dropped on Japan. the beginning of the end of a horrible world war and into a world of even more dangerous weapons

The huge atomic cloud 6 August, 1945. A Uranium bomb, the first nuclear weapon in the world, was dropped in Hiroshima City. It was estimated that its energy was equivalent to 15 kilotons of TNT. Aerial photograph from the 80 kilometers away of the Inland Sea, taken about 1 hour after the dropping.

Actually it was 65 years ago yesterday.

August 6, 1945, Hiroshima time. A.k.a. August 5, U.S. time.

When you started this thread, it was already August 7 in Hiroshima.
