View Full Version : Why I (yes, I) am pissed with Obama

Hope. Change we can believe in. Yes we can.
Those are the words of a fighter, and Obama is a fighter at his core. It’s also clear that Obama genuinely believes in his agenda and is forthcoming about most of it. Both of these things had a lot to do with why I felt better about voting for him than for any other presidential candidate I could remember. I’m still not the least bit sorry I did so.
The reason I’m pissed with him now, however, is that he’s starting to become like the stereotypical president who cares more about votes on Capitol Hill than about his agenda. Or, to put it in terms that the hard-core crowd can understand, he’s being a pussy.
As I hope most of you will agree, the focus since his election SHOULD have been on jobs. Jobs. And more jobs. (That’s what China’s been doing all this time.) I was willing to cut Obama some slack on health reform, because something had to be done about the for-profit insurance system to keep it from becoming too big a leech on the rest of the economy. But by now, there’s really no excuse for further inaction on the jobs front.
It’s simple, Barack. This country’s infrastructure is literally falling apart around us. (Remember I-35 in Minnesota?) Roads are being closed because local governments are going broke. Put 2 and 2 together: we now have millions of workers who are available to start maintaining what we have, before we lose it completely. Take this message to the people, not Congress. Congress is more interested in its own power than in governing, anyhow. If your skill and persuasion were enough to get you elected, they're enough to sell an aggressive jobs plan like this one. It’s time to stop doing a half-assed job yourself and truly give the unemployed the change they can believe in.
I’m Palin Rider, and I approve this message.

PR, I am proud to say I agree with you, even though I didn't vote for him. But there were really no good candidates. Isn't every election about voting for the lesser of two evils? As I've said before, politicians will be corrupt until being a politician stops being profitable.
What I want, and who I would vote for, is someone who could convince me that his OWN agendas will be thrown aside, and that he will follow the will of the American people.
And then I woke up, and realized that will never happen.

Until something gets done about the cost of campaigning (which would likely require a Constitutional convention), there will always be corruption and pandering to the best-financed lobbyists.

He's not a fighter. He's never had to fight for anything. He's a product, developed and packaged by liberals and the DNC for mass consumption by an unsuspecting public. He has always been a stereotypical politician, his only agenda being to get elected, gain power, get rich, and get re-elected. His agenda is to say things and look like he's doing things people will like and believe serves their best interests in hopes that they'll give him a second term.
If that happens, GOD help us all...

Stereotypical Politician? That's redundant. All politicians are essentially the same, they only disagree on how to make profits from their position.
But I agree with you.

The only difference between BO now and BO during election time is that the kool-aid is starting to wear off a bit.
Only a minority few of the idiots who voted this guy in are so pathetically dense that they can't see that they were fucked with their pants on are still chanting "yes we can".
So for those idiots who still haven't gotten it figured out - BO will tell you anything. Anything to appease to you. He does it with races, political parties, NYC citizens, Islamic NYC carpetbaggers, religious types, the media.
Whoever.
His new nickname should be the Chameleon, he adapts to whatever environment he's in.
Everyone who got caught up in the whole "yes we can" and "hope and change" bullshit now realizes what a fraud this guy is. At least the ones who can still think for themselves.

I can't see why a liberal isn't truly ecstatic about Obama's achievements so far. He's proven that he doesnt care what the majority of the US population thinks about his projects. Healthcare, bailouts, financial reform, you name it, he's shoved it down our throats with the help of Congress. He's telling us whats good for us just like we knew he would. This has got to be a liberals fantasy come to life.
Now don't blame him because the ideas fail. These policies and ideas have been tried in many different forms throughout the many millenia of human existence. Each time they have been tried, the poor suffer, the middle class becomes poor and those in power become an elite, super rich class. Whether through incompetent ignorance or malicious intent, Obama has achieved more of his agenda in such a short amount of time than any other president in recent history.

I completely agree with you on this point.
Our infrastructure is in desperate need of attention. There are millions of people out of work right now and the gov. could put a fair amount of them back to work on the roads and bridges in their towns and cities.

(What are you doing, by the way?) :poke:
Apart from which, my criticism of Obama isn't just the rant of a talking-point-addled hack, unlike 99% of it on this board. Mine talks about what specifically he should be doing that he isn't. Good luck trying to find anything like that from the right-wingnut crowd.

There's nothing wrong with insein noting what is going wrong....we need to know that before we can fix anything. Also, why are right wingers nuts? My gosh, you yourself are part of the Palin frenzy. Also, why are right wingers nuts?Extremism on either the left or the right is nuts, more or less by definition.

Do you have any desire to make your country better?

Funny you ask what I am doing. I just signed up to volunteer for Steve Chabots campaign here in Ohio. I am looking into helping out with Kasichs run for governor here. I work and have a family,so I'm not left with tons of time. I also recently signed a petition to get Obamacare out of Ohio by letting Ohians vote for it or against it.

You know what? extremists like you make the rest of us look bad. Refusal to look at someone else's viewpoint leads to stagnation of the mind.
This person comes up with a valid point about issues he has including a complete failureof a politician to perform anything he said he would do.

He is doing exactly what Democrats intended to do. Expand the government through wasteful spending bills and increasing the burden of the individual tax payer. What you got caught up on was the myth that these policies would actually make life better. Shame on you for believing that these policies would do what they say when we can look at the last 100 years of human existence and see that they do not work.
You are the reason that these failed ideas are allowed to continue. I am the reason that the people that keep using these failed ideas don't have jobs anymore. I couldnt agree with Gaffer more. Our opponents claim we are closed minded and wont listen to others pov, but that simply isnt true. But, if a person only brings ideas to that table that we have heard over and over before, there is no reason to think it through if we have already done so in the past.
Basic problem with liberal ideas is that most of us conservatives have already heard, and thought them through, not to mention, as Kathiane has stated, in practice NONE of them have worked.
Im thinking of starting a thread and listing the liberal ideas implemented and how they have failed.

Actually Gaffer pointed out a large flaw in PR's post, about actually being mad at something other than what he says/thinks he is angry about.
Im not sure why you assume Gaffer doesnt listen to others, yet PR does. PR criticized only conservatives, was called on it, then claimed he hasnt seen any liberals here who just spout the party line.

It appears reality is hitting you in the face, and you are growing up a bit and starting to lean more right as you discover the liberals and their ideas dont work, not to mention they lie and deceive you. Any person who is truly a critical thinker on the issues, evolves in their point of view in things to the conservative values which over time have proven to work, whereas the liberal values are abject failures, time and time again.

Too late to sugarcoat it: you were trolling. If you actually want respect, you'll man up, admit it was wrong to have done, and move on.

(NOTE: see the Soviet Union)
I said it before and I'll say it again: I agree with the left on some things and with the right on others. Have for many years.
Don't kid yourself into thinking that what the Repubs in and running for office are trying to sell you is conservatism, though. It's a right-wing utopia that will never look anything like the abject failures they deliver.

Ahhhh so your just stupid. Got it.
Are you kidding? I've seen water buffalo that could outwit you.
Apart from which, "Conservative Atheist" makes about as much sense as "Constitutional Stalinist."

You have never seen a water buffalo except on television. It appears you don't understand the definitions of conservative and atheist.
Now give me some examples of things on the right you agree with please.

Wrong as always. When I was very young, my parents took me to zoos and animal parks in quite a few different cities.

In theory, there can obviously be such a thing as a conservative atheist. Just not in practice in the US.
As far as the religious right is concerned, they're all liberals.

I didn't need to elaborate.

The one I remember best was named Waldo, and spent most of his time staring at the passersby from the edge of his pen. When someone made eye contact and said "Hi, Waldo," he would belch at them once. He did this consistently.
Waldo clearly wanted to communicate. You do not.

Not that your labeling makes any difference to me, but you're living in a Cold War cartoon.

And people like yourself are exactly why ideas fail.
You don't dispute that jobs are needed, you don't dispute that the infrastructure is falling apart, yet all you want to do is sit on your ass and attack people.
Seriously, shame on you.
Jobs are made when people make them. Government doesn't create them. People do.
I can guarentee you Insein is working hard. See that's what people who aren't on the Government's teet need to do all day.

Bull. People living off their ancestors' investments and trust funds don't need to work all day. If you and Insein are stuck on a hamster-wheel, it proves only that you lack talent and imagination.

Sorry I can't spend my time photoshopping policiticians I supposedly don't care for in provacative ways. I kind of have to work. You know that thing you do when you wake up, go to a place where the guy who signs your paychecks tells you to come and then do what they say for 8+ hours a day. Some people have to do these things to pay for a mortgage, food, kids, etc.
The way I can keep working is for my employer to be able to afford to pay me. The way they can keep paying me is to keep their costs low and the profits high. Taxes kill both ends. You get taxed to death on the things you buy to make your business run (ie electricity, gas, goods and services from other companies). Then you get taxed to death on the money you earned by giving goods and services to others. The government then takes that hard earned money and gives it to people who do nothing to contribute to society (ie people like you) to keep not contributing.
So basically, everything Obama has set out to do, he has done. All a beautiful Utopian Liberal Dream.
