I was talking with my g/f last night and she told me her cousin is into "Dark Shadows"... then she asked me "what's that?"

I could not believe it. I thought everyone my age was familiar with the soap opera "Dark Shadows"! It aired on ABC from 1966 until about 1971...

Does anyone else remember the show?

Barnabus Colins. My mom use to watch it. After me and brother came back from school most days. I remember colins always always almost biting this lady but for some reason almost always getting stopped short. and a hand coming out of grave. I don't know if that was a part of the opening or something. AND I REMEMBER the SCARY MUSIC. But i was in elementary school when it was on.

Seriously, I tried to get out of school 'sick' for last class 2 days a week in jr. high to get home by 3 to watch. Barnabus I though hot, which is sort of sick I now realize. He was like 50 to my 14.

and Angelique. Then there was that real old lady, can't remember her name. Awhile ago I wanted to see if on DVD, (http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Shadows-DVD-Collection-1/dp/B000060MVN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1282758841&sr=8-1) but too expensive for the whole series.

I don't have Netflix, though I was introduced to it this weekend at my son's apartment. Very cool, though there is no captioning, yet. It was funny, he told me to pick something I thought he'd like, I picked, Bones. Then he picked something he wanted me to watch, Weeds. It was fun, but truth is I really need captioning, I missed 2/3's at least of dialogue.

My son, bless his heart, sent a question to Netflix online, they said they are working to bring captioning and will let him know when.

That Dark Shadows is on might be reason enough for me to pack up my hearing stuff for video and camp at his place. ;) While that works, it's a receiver and headphones set-up, it's not the most comfortable and is good for 8 hours or so before needing recharging. During the day I watch regular with captioning, use the headset in the evening so as to let people sleep without blaring.

There were two real reasons why I watched "Dark Shadows"

1. Angelique - I think every 10 year old boy that watched that series would have given their eye teeth to be bitten by her... she was H-O-T

2. Caroline Stoddard - kind of disturbed, but that was part of her charm... plus the fact the she was another hot blonde didn't hurt either!

Madonna, Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp are among three famous people who are big fans of the show.

Those 2 nevr hit me, but maybe it's because they are blonds.
I was more into Maria from Sesseme Street, Mary Anne on Gillian's Island and Morticia Addams from the Adams family
