As we get closer to the end of the year, we will see the REAL effests of Obamacare

I do hope people see the rate increases in time to thanks Obama and the Dems on November 2. Is it any wonder why Dems running for reelection who voted for Obamacare are NOT running on their vote?

Health insurers say they plan to raise premiums for some Americans as a direct result of the health overhaul in coming weeks, complicating Democrats' efforts to trumpet their signature achievement before the midterm elections.

Aetna Inc., some BlueCross BlueShield plans and other smaller carriers have asked for premium increases of between 1% and 9% to pay for extra benefits required under the law, according to filings with state regulators.

These and other insurers say Congress's landmark refashioning of U.S. health coverage, which passed in March after a brutal fight, is causing them to pass on more costs to consumers than Democrats predicted.

.The rate increases largely apply to policies for individuals and small businesses and don't include people covered by a big employer or Medicare.

About 9% of Americans buy coverage through the individual market, according to the Census Bureau, and roughly one-fifth of people who get coverage through their employer work at companies with 50 or fewer employees, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. People in both groups are likely to feel the effects of the proposed increases, even as they see new benefits under the law, such as the elimination of lifetime and certain annual coverage caps.

Funny, it seems a majority of conservatives predicted this very thing and were screaming from the rooftops about it.

Yes it was predicted. A friend just received their bill..Self employed. It increased $250. Cost went from $6000/yr to $6800 and that of course doesn't include deductible.

and the left responed not with the page number of the bill that would prove them worng - but with the usual attacks

They were called racists, Nazi's, bigots, and puppets for Big Insurance

Now we have Dems who voted for Obamacare not talking about their vote or Obamacare as they beg voters to reelect them

We won't see the major increases till January. The bill was designed that way.

Health care costs increase. Taxes increase. Worldwide food shortages. People taking profits this year to avoid next years taxes. It means the economic "growth" we do see this year is just people taking away from next years profits.

Needless to say, this is going to be an ugly winter. Wouldnt surprise me if the Democrats still try to blame it on Republicans.

The tax increases will start January 1

However, people with health plans thru their employer will start seeing the results of Obamacare as early as next month

Where I work we get out benefit package in October and have to have our selections in by November 15

I am waiting to see how much mre we will have to pay for our health plans. Even the Obama supporters at work are not saying much about the increasing costs, and do not want to talk about it

What is going to happen to those companies who don't currently offer health insurance benefits?

What is going to happen to those companies who don't currently offer health insurance benefits?

They will be punished by paying a tax of about 8% of their gross payroll.

Libs love to use the tax code to force people to live and do business they way they feel they should be

This is another reason why Dems have been told NOT to talk about, discuss, or answer questions about Obamacare as they run for reelection

Pelosi was right - they had to pass the bill so we could find out what was in it

and we don't like it at all

Check out the spin from the White House

He TOLD us the cost would INCREASE!

Really?

When did he say that?

President Obama on Friday defended the Democrats' healthcare law, saying the enormous expansion of insurance coverage made an increase in healthcare spending inevitable.

"As a consequence of us getting 30 million additional people healthcare, at the margins that's going to increase our costs — we knew that," the president told reporters during a White House press conference.

"We didn't think that we were going to cover 30 million people for free."

Obama was responding to questions about new cost projections, crunched by economists at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), revealing the nation's healthcare spending, as a share of the economy, will be 0.3 percentage points higher in 2019 than estimated before the law was passed.

That CMS report, published Thursday in the journal Health Affairs, also revealed healthcare spending will grow by an average of 6.3 percent each year over the next decade, whereas pre-reform projections pegged annual growth at 6.1 percent.

Republicans have latched onto the figures as evidence that the new reform law has failed in one of its central purposes: to bend the health cost curve down to sustainable levels.

But Obama rejected those criticisms, arguing his pitch for reform included warning that the process would be a long one.

"I said at the time it wasn't going to happen tomorrow, it wasn't going to happen next year," Obama said. "It took us decades to get into a position where our health care costs were going up 6, 7, 10 percent a year. And so our goal is to slowly bring down those costs."
