This is a spinoff from another discussion (http://www.debatepolicy.com/showthread.php?29120-Obama-proclaims-quot-The-buck-stops-here-quot-but-still-blames-all-problems-on-George-W-Bush&p=441611#post441611).

Just to define the parameters: every single POTUS, without exception, is or was a narcissist. Anyone who wasn't a narcissist wouldn't even take the job, much less run for office.

Naturally, some of these guys were more narcissistic than others, and that's what this thread is all about.

To get the ball rolling, this article (http://www.union.edu/N/DS/s.php?s=2502) mentions an actual study based on psychological research.

Here's an essay on GWB's narcissism (http://www.awakeninthedream.com/wordpress/?p=42), and of course there are quite a few recent articles pointing fingers at Obama.

Who else should go on the chopping block?

OK PR - I gave you an article that was from CBS News based upon actual facts gathered in Obama's first year and all you come up with is one man's opinion?

I agree that world leaders crave the spotlight .... especially those that pursue it....not necessarily those that have leadership thrust upon them. However, I will still state that Obama is the most narcissistic of them all....and that is just based upon his first year in office. The man is in love with himself, loves to hear himself talk and actually believes the tripe he is spouting.

So, to continue this debate you need to come up with all those "metrics" you promised.

Big difference between self-confidence and narcissism. Obama shows most of the characteristics of the later:

Wouldn't be true of Reagan, Johnson, Kennedy, Bush, Carter even.

Thanks. I like that woven throughout was that self-esteem must be earned. Of course it's the learner who actually determines whether or not to feel good about themselves.

I know ... all my life I've concentrated on relying upon my own self-assessment of my worth..... People who are constantly trying to live up to other people's expectations will drive themselves crazy. Integrity is crucial .... without it why bother having any values at all.

I can remember playing dominoes as a kid with my uncle....and getting mad at him if he let me win. I told him I would never get better unless he played to win .... and I would ask him what I could have done differently to win. Then it got to a point where he would have to cheat to win and he taught me how to recognize when someone is cheating. I think those games taught me how to trust my abilities .... my ability to be honorable so that I would always have my self-esteem.

OK, just to keep you from cheating... ;)

First, there's much more than one man's opinion in the collection of links in the OP. Second, none of the facts that you posted in the CBS article has anything to do with narcissism (at least not necessarily). If you can't show a direct link, they prove nothing.

Third, I don't consider this topic a real "debate" at all: I posted this material more for fun than anything else.

If all you want to do is take the fun out of it, that's a sad commentary.
