(Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday put off a threatened decision to quit peace talks with Israel, leaving more time for diplomacy to save negotiations from collapse over Israel's settlement building.

The United States, France, Britain and the United Nations said they were disappointed that Israel had refused to extend the freeze on settlement construction ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 10 months ago to foster direct talks.

"We recognize that given the (Israeli) decision yesterday we've still got a dilemma that we have to resolve and there are no direct negotiations scheduled at this point," U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said.

These policies of encroachment represent perhaps the last great manifestation of European colonialism on the territories of the colored peoples of the world. The ideological justification for them is along the lines of Manifest Destiny or lebensraum.

Um, who said it made a difference? It was a historical observation that the major forms of recent colonialism have been carried out by Europeans, particularly Western Europeans, though Israel is an exception in that it received numerous German, Polish, and Eastern European immigrants.

Peace would be awesome. If the islamic terrorist assholes would stop killing innocents, peace could happen.

But you believe in boarderless immigration, yes? So you shouldn't have a problem with Isreal.

Especially since the Jews have been in that region since the beginning of recorded history. They are not interlopers.

I'd also say that race has nothing to do with the war going on there, they're the same race. It is all about religion.
