What do you think about the Ireland banking collapse?

I font know much about Ireland and specific issues concerning it.

But as far as I'm aware their borrowings are about 11 times there GDP, which means they're more or less buggered

I did hear an Irish TD not to long ago basically say 'we've been a republic for a while, we've messed it up pretty bad, we should revert back to British rule' which goes to show what the mood in Ireland is like lol.

Wow ... can't imagine them giving up like that.

Yeah, it won't happen, but it's an amazing statement, and a real kick in the teeth to Republician Scum in Northern Ireland. I've gleefully been rubbing their noses in it ^__^

Fine Gael TD Michael Ring said the Irish government should "hand back" the Republic to the Queen during a royal visit next year.

The County Mayo representative also suggested that the government should apologise to her for the "mess" they have made of the country.

Mr Ring made the comments during an economic debate at the Irish Parliament.

He said: "Now look at the mess we're in and look at the mess this country is in.

"Next year the Queen is talking about coming to Ireland for a state visit.

"Maybe we should say to the Queen when she comes 'you know, we have our own independence now, we'll hand you back the country and we'll apologise for the mess that we're after making of it.

"Because at least when they were running the country they didn't put it into the mess and the hock that we are in now."

This, rather epicly, sums up Ireland ATM.

During an economic debate, when the minister questioned the TD sincerity over remarks he made about not wanting to force massive public spending cuts but he had no choice...

Well.... at least we know he's adamant in his stance.

Sounds like that TD needs to be removed and shipped off to London. he could kiss the queens arse properly then.

Well.... at least we know he's adamant in his stance.

It's sheer perfection.

Preemptive apology, swear a few times, apoliguise again, finish with "we're screwed as a country"

If i was from Ireland I'd be tempted to vote for him, but then, he's from the green party, >,>
