-You might not want to read this if u want to stay in the holiday spirit-

If your a bit squeamish you probably shouldn't watch or let little kids watch. It's looks painful but not horrific.
-------

Here's an interesting Holiday tradition celebrated every year around Christmas and New years in remembrance of the death of Muhammad's grandson by some Shiite/Shia Muslims,
fasting and self flagellation.

Inside a mosque with young boys with "training wheel" whips. Pretty repetitive no need to watch the whole thing.

I have to give equal time here to some misguided Christians. All due respect to the Catholics, but this stuff IS NOT in the Bible. It's not practiced or encouraged and there's not even an example of it. It's weird that both Muslim's and Catholics picked it up though. Self mutilation is Common in many pagan religions too.

Jesus took the pain and suffering on the Cross for our sins. There's no need for us to "join" him by beating ourselves. Now is the time to we are to try to relive suffering. There's plenty to do to help with those who are less fortunate than us by giving. Also by speaking out for those who are now suffering abuse in various forms here and around the world.

Shiaa muslims have wierd traditions, that much i know

about Ashura day, we normal muslims "Sunni", celebrate it, not because Muhammed's Grandson was killed in it of course, but because Moses escaped safely from egypt pharaoh tyrany in that day, so we celebrate the survival of Moses by fasting.

when Muhammed learned that jews usualy fast that day to celebrate the survival of Moses, he told Muslims that we should do the same, celebrate the survival of Moses from the tyrany of the pharaoh by fasting that day.

so Shiaa muslims choose to cry over the killing of Muhammed's grandson, while we Sunni choose to follow our prophet words, by fasting that day to celebrate the survival of Moses.

by the way, we also celebrate the birth of the christ.

that's interesting stuff Abso.

...we also celebrate the birth of the Christ.
That's great, the Shiaa celebrate Christ birth too right?

and "Normal Muslims" that's a funny way to put it but
Would you say that the Shiaa are more of a cult of Islam, or a perversion, or just have a few odd practices embedded into "proper" Islamic teachings. Or maybe there's another way to look at it.

yes, i would say that they have few odd practices embdedded into Islam, as you see in the videos of course, does that look like a normal practice to you ?

i dont know if Shiaa celebrate the christ birth too or not, i dont know much about them, but for us Sunni, we celebrate for the birth of Muhammed, Jesus, and Moses, because we believe in all of them.
