Now that France has a right wing President, I wonder if Hannity and O'Reilly will stop their French hating campaign?

Speaking for myself, the problem with France did not begin at the top. What is the problem and where did it begin?

When they gave us the Statue of Liberty? When they gave us our ideas for religious tolerance and freedom of speech. French Enlightenment is where our founding fathers got their great ideas for our constitution.

The American ideas of individuality, religious tolerance and freedom of speech came directly out of the French Enlightenment -- but, shhh, don't tell Alabama. Voltaire wrote "men are born equal" before Jefferson was wise enough to steal it.

Why would anybody on this board give a shit if the French love, hate, expand, denounce export or forget socialism?

Does socialism threaten you?

What is this queer fetish with socialism about anyhow?

Real answers only need apply, none of those parroted soundbites.

It IS fun to bash the french, non? The french love taxes and 'free' stuff, subsidies etc. It really is as simple as that. Just like their love for Jerry Lewis, they're wacky that way. Quebecors get subsidized dental care. I'll admit to being a bit jealous of that, for obvious reasons. :laugh2:

I care about people.

To parphrase the Peace Corps ... Give a man a fish and feed him for a day ... teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.

Socialism trades fish for loyalty and obediance.

Capitalism rewards fisherman, and moves mankind forward by rewarding innovation and creativity

Sure Canada has socialized medicine, and most hate it. They wait MONTHS to see a doctor, and then it's whoever is available.

They can keep it.

Suposedly he's conservative and right wing, but I'm not going to get very excited. The french admittedly know their elected officials are crocked, and most have no problem with it. We'll see about this guy.

Sorry, never heard of anyone waiting MONTHS to see a doctor. It is possible, of course, but not a common occurance. Unless you know different?

ANd yes, it does do the trick for now. 1 hr in the emergency room a few weeks ago. Not bad.

So why do you either:

>Think you know better than others how they should get fish

>care whether they do it the hard way, or wrong way etc?

What if you are wrong? Or what if you are shortsighted?

What if they might be more right than you could know?

Don't they have the right to try it their way?

I dont believe Hannity ever had a French hating campaign. I dont think he even has a liberal hating campaign. That man doesnt have a hateful bone in his body.

OReilly on the other hand is a different story, but then who the heck cares about him?

I think the real question is if the rest of the world hates the President as much as the media portrays. Why are the French of all people overwhelmingly voting for a candidate who openly likes President Bush?

The riots have begun. royal told them if she wasn't elected the left would take to the streets. They have begun to do that already. Interesting that the riots are in the muslim sections of paris.

What I've found interesting is not the riots, that I expected, rather the failure of the American media to report that another 'liberal' European nation has gone for a leader that is not 'anti-American', overwhelmingly. First the Germans, now the French. I've changed my mind for the time being, on the French citizenry.

Fascism has proven to be the far larger threat. Fascism has proven itself to be a far larger threat than even totalitarian commyism ever was.

The US is a socialist nation. Does the US threaten the whole world too?

What is amazing is that such a threat doesnt disqualify oneself as a serious candidate.

Im starting to wonder if maybe all this "the world hates the US" is nothing but liberal media propaganda. Cause if we were hated that much and so many people really didnt want anything to do with our policies i find it hard to believe they would be voting for conservatives so much.

Socialism is slavery; it places society prime over the individuals that comprise it; it denies one's ownership of one's self.

Socialism is morally and intellectually bankrupt, it is anti-liberty, and those that wish to preserve liberty in the land of the free are necessarly anti-socialist.
