In a conversation today with a dear friend the question was posed, "What if the WBC declared themselves to be liberal Christians, would that make them so?" Being taken aback by that question and it's endless reasons for rejection in the conscience mind I finally decided maybe to let the board have a crack at it.

Please bear in mind that this is only a minor extension of the other Westboro thread in that this one compares and examines a "what if" question that I believe is impossibe to intelligently ask and much less to answer. That said, I have to always remain cognizant that there are no bad questions, only bad answers.

Thank you in advance for your participation. You cats surprize this ol' cat sometimes. 16 bar improv shuffle in Aflat, 1,,2,,1,2,3,4 Ta da,,,,tada da da da,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'd infer that the question was in response to the argument that since Westboro 'self-proclaims' to be a conservative Christian religion it is. Thus if they 'self-proclaimed' to be something else, should that be accepted?

Sort of like someone with a Napoleon complex claiming to be, ah, Napoleon? Doesn't make it so.

Agreed

I heard a Junk yard dog had puppies and put them inside an old oven.
That didn't turn the puppies into Biscuits.

if ya put a saddle on a cow it doesn't make it a race horse.

Calling a hooker an escort doesn't make her a legal in most states and the date will probably cost more to boot.

Why wouldn't it???????

One day they decide they're liberal instead of conservative, makes no difference. They're still a backward, hatefull cult.

The big question is does anyone here really consider them a church?

First and foremost, I hope that their "tax exempt" status is stripped by the IRS.

They are an embarrassment to true biblical Christianity, not unlike Rev. Wright's church that would qualify as being in "apostasy".
