ABC Blames Global Warming For Record Cold and Snow

Tonight the enviro wackos and ABC will blame Bush for the weather





On Friday’s World News on ABC, correspondent Linsey Davis filed a one-sided report in which she cited the views of climate scientists who blame the recent cold temperatures and high amounts of snowfall on global warming. After recounting the recent extreme weather around the country, Davis continued:

If this winter seems especially brutal, scientists say you're right. ABC News contacted 10 climate scientists to ask their take, if an extreme winter like the one we're having is the way of the future. The consensus? Global warming is playing a role by shifting weather patterns in unpredictable ways. Many say the forecast for the future calls for record-breaking precipitation and extreme temperatures year round. And that means winters with more snow.

The ABC correspondent concluded the report by noting the unusually cold temperatures in Boston:

LINSEY DAVIS: Here in Boston, the good news is that the snow has stopped, at least for now. But the bad news is that temperatures are expected to drop below zero for the first time in this area in six years. Diane?

It's laughable to think that temps below zero are somehow unusual in New England. Happens all the time. Methinks there is a bit of truth stretching going on here. Of course, the subject is global warming and that means the truth has no bearing.

hemmorhoids
dandruff
bad breath
body odor
lack of a date on Friday night
headache (or PMS)
that bloated feeling you get after eating
bounced checks
why you were late for Sunday dinner at your in-laws
hangnails
why you can't clean up after your dog
why your favorite team didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year
or.. (for next season) your favorite team didn't make it to the World Series this year

Why do people like to attack AGW, I mean, what's the big deal? Let's say it snows more or less, bigger storms, dandruff, whatever. I think the point of climate studies is to provide better information on something which is relatively unpredictable; so to some degree its an exercise in futility. What isn't futile is making decisions which account for the uncertainties of environmental and climate changes; which aren't merely human caused, but occur naturally as well. So often I think people like to dispell climate change or global warming because it forces them to consider how their personal liberties can and do affect others, and not just negatively either, positive changes can made too.

My area is to get 5 to 7 inches of global warming today. Should make the drive home "fun"

When was the last time to doom and gloom enviro wackos were right about anything?




1. Within a few years "children just aren't going to know what snow is." Snowfall will be "a very rare and exciting event." Dr. David Viner, senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, interviewed by the UK Independent, March 20, 2000.

Ten years later, in December 2009, London was hit by the heaviest snowfall seen in 20 years. And just last week, a snowstorm forced Heathrow airport to shut down, stranding thousands of Christmas travelers.

2. "[By] 1995, the greenhouse effect would be desolating the heartlands of North America and Eurasia with horrific drought, causing crop failures and food riots…[By 1996] The Platte River of Nebraska would be dry, while a continent-wide black blizzard of prairie topsoil will stop traffic on interstates, strip paint from houses and shut down computers." Michael Oppenheimer, published in "Dead Heat," St. Martin's Press, 1990.

Oppenheimer told FoxNews.com that he was trying to illustrate one possible outcome of failing to curb emissions, not making a specific prediction. He added that the gist of his story had in fact come true, even if the events had not occurred in the U.S.

3. "Arctic specialist Bernt Balchen says a general warming trend over the North Pole is melting the polar ice cap and may produce an ice-free Arctic Ocean by the year 2000." Christian Science Monitor, June 8, 1972.

Ice coverage has fallen, though as of last month, the Arctic Ocean had 3.82 million square miles of ice cover -- an area larger than the continental United States -- according to The National Snow and Ice Data Center.

4. "Using computer models, researchers concluded that global warming would raise average annual temperatures nationwide two degrees by 2010." Associated Press, May 15, 1989.

Status of prediction: According to NASA, global temperature has increased by about 0.7 degrees Fahrenheit since 1989. And U.S. temperature has increased even less over the same period.
