Just posting a non-descript picture with your phone can bring you a stalker:

You have to enable geo-tagging, so folks that are surprised by this are people that click 'yesyesyes' when the options appear without reading them or dont understand what they do mean even if they do.

UNHoly Crap.
that's ridiculous.

Why isn't this feature Clearly noted and WHERES THE BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF?

It makes no sense to have this as an automatic setting on any camera.

A check before you post. It's free.

JPEGsnoop is a program that's designed to reveal EXIF data in JPEGs. Just open the JPEG in JPEGsnoop. You'll see a long list of information. It details pretty much everything about the photo.http://www.komando.com/downloads/category.aspx?id=10151&utm_medium=nl&utm_source=dotd&utm_content=2011-01-19-article&utm_campaign=end

Not only are there clear turn off buttons, on any phone/camera I've used you MUST enable it.
It's not an automatic setting.
But like I said it's just people clicking 'yesyesyes' and nit knowing what they're doing and then being surprised that their own actions have consequences!

Heard a lot of people bothered about this. Not sure why though. I don't use, let alone post things on, the internet with any expectation of privacy. (cookies, spyware etc) Https sites excluded, but even then-- read the fine print. Another twist on enabled gps on phones is an app that can tell you where your friends are anytime. Had a request from a friend that told me his phone alerted him to the fact I had a gps enabled phone and was therefore able to activate this app- just click ok. Uh no thx, just put on mytinfoil hat inside my cave in an undisclosed locale- don't think your friendspace profile needs my info just yet-- but thx for the offer to monitor my movements and investigate my interactions with others-- hey wanna see the list of books I checked out instead?
