Here's to hoping the movie goes a long way towards destroying the myths that she was a credible philosopher, much less the intellectual she so desperately needed the world to think of her as. She was absolutely the biggest farce in modern day political/economic thought as I have ever seen or heard about.

Or perhaps it will be just another Ayn Rand clusterfuck.

i've got issues with the philosophy but she does make some outstanding points and does a lot to clear the deck of some false socialist notions.

But I really like the book,
And i think the Film was barely OK, not great at all. they tried hard but there was so much to pack in I doubt any non reader would have gotten any of the force of the story. the passion of the characters felt truncated. You never really felt the pride Readen or Dagney felt in the working of their biz. or got the sense of pride of accomplishment or it's contrast to sloth and the blind gimme gimme attitude of some of the others.
Many scenes felt flat. even the scene of Rearden in bed with his wife "are you done" didn't pack the punch it could have. neither did the dagney taking the Readen Steel bracelet scene.
The villains were villainous enough but just in sort of a typical hollywood way.
Fransisco was overplayed by comparison of what was left out.
I really missed the parts of the book where Rand decribes other side charaters that are goodand proud of what they do and how they play a role and reflect the main characaters . ike where Reardon meets the illegal Mine owner to get the ore he needs, and the train conductors sure and practiced skills. those things IMO could have been cool. but ...
it is what it is

Overall i guess it was an interesting summery of the 1st part of the book.

Anyone who bases what is meant to be an honest assessment of a book on a movie does a disservice to the book, and the author. Especially if you have predisposed opinions about the author prior to seeing, or reading both.

That, to me. Is much like writing your own autobiography, and learning that someone has created a comic book version of it. Without knowing anything about you.
