This story is amazing. Here are examples of what some people will do to save their homes and protect their property

Not even a record flood will drive them from their homes and they find a way to defeat the flood waters

Aside from the ruined homes and flooded farmland which is a disaster for everyone, it is a rich farmland part of the country and flooding like this is what made the ground so rich and fertile. Before all the levees this was a regular occurrence. The smart ones took measures to do something to protect their property. Then there are those who could not afford to build barriers around their homes and those who are waiting on the government to do something.

My heart goes out to those people. But these few show what hard work, a good game plan, and sheer stermination can do
