Why? He was telling the truth about the government and their nanny state interference.

The enviro wackos passed regulation requiring a 1.6ltr flush maximum water usage which does not work and requires several flushes. the same with shower heads and how much water it will use

It sounds stupid for a Senator to be complaining about toilets of all things. Besides any 1.6 toilet I've had works fine.

For alot of people hey do not work. Older buildings, older pipes they are a pain. I have lived in buildings where I did have to flush a couple of times so where the hell is the "savings"?
