Seems like the liberal media has different standards for "comedy and satire"

If it is Republicans and conservatives being mocked, well Republicans and conservatives need to become more thicjskinned

But if it liberals or - gasp - Obama being made fun of well is in poor tasts and racist

From the NY Times this morning

NEW ORLEANS — A comedian impersonating President Obama who was hired to perform here on Saturday at the Republican Leadership Conference delivered racially tinged remarks about Mr. Obama’s heritage and offered a mocking assessment of the Republican presidential candidates.

The impersonator, Reggie Brown of Chicago, opened his act by joking about Mr. Obama’s family history, referring to his white mother from Kansas and his black father from Kenya. He said that he was born in Hawaii, adding, “or as the Tea Partiers like to call it, Kenya.”

He said that Michelle Obama, the first lady, enjoys celebrating all of February, Black History Month. He said the president celebrates only half the month.

“My mother loved a black man and, no, she was not a Kardashian,” Mr. Brown said later, referring to the family that stars in reality shows. Khloe Kardashian, who is white, is married to Lamar Odom, who is black and plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The audience, which was nearly entirely white, watched with befuddlement as the impersonator told them to look into the future to see what the Obamas will look like when they are retired. An image of a feuding husband and wife, from the TV show “Sanford and Son,” was flashed on screens in the ballroom.

The Louisiana Republican Party hired Mr. Brown, who has spent years refining his impression of Mr. Obama, to appear during the afternoon session of the party’s three-day gathering. He also made derogatory jokes about Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich before his hosts cut him off with loud music and escorted him from the stage before his act was over.

The act, which included a fake Secret Service detail, a recorded video address from the Oval Office and a presidential seal, came one day after Govs. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana urged fellow Republicans to stay disciplined — and focused on economic issues — in their quest to defeat Mr. Obama next year.

seems to me that the liberal media had nothing to do with this guy laying an egg. The GOP organizers were the ones who were appalled by his schtick and gave him the hook.

Eh Virgil, maineman, manfrommaine, retiredman, and moderate democrat - the Wahington Compost was quoted in the OP with their whining about what was said

and soon enough the rest of the ObamaPR staff will be playing the race card

I see you came back for more. Lonely since it is clear you have no place else to go to be your usual annoyance? :laugh2:

you miss the point. as always.

Perhaps the Washington Post WAS disturbed by the comments of this comedian, but the FACT REMAINS that it was the REPUBLICANS who were FIRST disturbed by it... so disturbed that they cut his act short and hustled him off the stage.

care to comment on THAT?

Yes, the (R)'s allowed a lot of comedy and then "policed" the place when it got out of line. They are guaranteed to still hear about this from the liberal media.

If it were a (D) event, it would go anywhere they please, and anyone that dare speak out about what THEY say would be labeled racist.

so....you agree with me that it was not just the liberal media who found this guy's comments out of line. And in fact, it was the liberal media who reported that the GOP had been the first to be outraged and had hauled him off the stage.

thank you.

hypocrisy abounds in both parties, wouldn't you agree?

Perhaps, but IMO, MUCH more so in the (D) side. Bejeezus, the Dems actually had the audacity to go nuts about the bullseye thing because one of their own was shot - but never stated a single word about their own who did the same and the MANY of their supporters who pull that crap at their rallies.

like I said, hypocrisy abounds in both parties... and we could spend all day googling all sorts of events where your party was hypocritical or my party was hypocritical.... to what end?

I don't like hypocrites in my party any more than you like them in yours.

but I'll bet that, if hypocrisy was the candidate's only sin, and they supported your party's platform and shared in your party's beliefs, you'd hold you nose, if necessary, and vote for them over a democrat who did NOT share your political beliefs. Right?

You'd vote for a hypocritical republican over a left wing democrat any day... just like I'd vote for a hypocritical democrat over a right wing republican.

That's just the nature of politics in America. I can imagine that, irregardless of how much you want to humiliate me and denigrate me, you would probably agree with that...even if you can't being yourself to admit it here publicly.

The difference is, and to keep the thread on topic, is that a large portion of conservatives will do something about it, while many of the democrats are either unwilling or turn a blind eye.

wil the large majority of conservatives vote for the democrat rather than vote for a republican who has exhibited hypocrisy?

I doubt it.

Wil? :laugh2:

Dude, you are the LAST person on earth that should be talking about hypocrisy or voting against party lines.
