Couldn't find an al Jazeera poll?

From the article:

"This poll was conducted among a random sample of 810 adults nationwide, interviewed by telephone July 15-17, 2011. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus four percentage points. The error for subgroups is higher. This poll release conforms to the Standards of Disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls."

So they took a poll of 810 people and then extrapolated the results to 300 mil +. I wonder what the demographics of the random 810 people were? Speculating here, but given that school is out for the summer (teachers and students?) plus the usual no working, lazy "victims of society" added to the stay at home spouse, I am betting that most of the respondents were libs. Hmm, the poll was conducted by CBS for CBS. No way they could have skewed the results. I can't help but notice that Gabby forgot to mention that Obama didn't do so well in this poll either.

All in all, I would have to say that this poll is about as useless as used toilet paper.

I love pointing out the slanted nature of these things. The PDF of the actual poll including weightings and sample populace is avalable HERE (http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/poll_debt_071811.pdf?tag=contentMain;contentBody). Try again Gabbo.

If you click on the PDF version of the poll and go to the bottom you will see the sample of those questioned

Dems 35%

Independents 41%

Republicans 24%

So Gabby, they sampled mopre libs, so they would get the results they were seeking

Meanwhile keep flipping off the voters and you will see the results in 2012 as you did in 2010

There isn't a budget and hasn't been for 2 years.

to be fair, there hasn't been a budget for a lot longer than that.

The US spends more than they take in. It's a problem the gov. needs to take care of instead of continually sweeping it under the rug and then blaiming the next administration.

I agree, which is why the gov. needs to ballance the budget and stop screwing around with political posturing. They seem to think the American public are a bunch of idiots.

Every household out there has had to trim their spending in order to get out of debt at some point or other. The US spends to much and doesn't have enought coming in. Taxing people more isn't the answer, we have to CUT SPENDING.

I hope the republicans stick to their guns.

They better stick to their guns or they will outside lookin in after the next election.

People are fed up with being told they are undertaxed,a nd government is "starving"

I wish the R's would presnt a balanced budget now and make Obama and the Dems squeal

Actually, no. There's been a deficit, but without a budget? No, only under Obama.

osted at 04:02 PM ET, 07/27/2011 Ten things that happen if the Boehner bill gets through By Jennifer Rubin (http://www.washingtonpost.com/jennifer-rubin/2011/02/24/ABbIUXN_page.html)
We know what happens if the Boehner bill fails in the House. There is no alternative plan. We suffer whatever shock to the U.S. and world economies that will follow a default. The president will go to the country, claiming the Republicans endangered the country’s economy and global standing. But what happens if the House passes the Boehner bill?
1. The Boehner bill becomes the inevitable solution to the crisis. As Keith Hennessey explains (http://keithhennessey.com/2011/07/27/quick-summary-of-the-boehner-bill/), we also make progress in restoring fiscal sanity:

...

2. The House would have done its job without violating the core promises the speaker made: more spending cuts than dollars increased in the debt ceiling. And no tax hikes.
3. President Obama, after decrying the plan, will almost certainly have to sign it. This in no sense will be looked upon as a victory by Democrats. To the contrary, by ignoring the president’s veto threat, the House will have shown that its views (and those of its Tea Party freshmen) can’t be ignored by the White House.
4. Congress will rebuff Obama and Reid’s efforts to slash more than $800 billion in defense spending. It is for this reason that former ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton has endorsed the plan.
5. The rap on the Tea Party that it is incapable of governing will be proven false.
6. The rap that the Republicans are divided between the Tea Party and everyone else will be disproven as well.
7. The most shrill voices in the GOP will take one on the chin, and thereby reveal that the gap is actually between a few loud voices in the blogosphere and Congress, on one hand, and the bulk of the conservative movement, on the other. The Tea Party, however, will show it can move opinion and govern.
8. Obama won’t have any excuse for the rotten economy.
9. The left will be demoralized. The left demanded a clean debt bill, railed against spending cuts, and pleaded for tax hikes. They will have failed, and Obama, by signing the Boehner bill, will be the object of their ire.
10. The Senate Democrats, who failed to do their job in passing budgets in two successive years, will be forced to take a tough vote, which will either displease their base or, for certain senators, critical red state voters.
At some level you wonder why this is even controversial in Republican ranks. Perhaps with time for consideration the vast majority of the lawmakers on both sides of the aisle will realize this is not just the only game in town but a very decent one.

Obama's "balanced" approach will not balance the budget. The debt will continue to grow along with our taxes.

Remember candidate Obama saying we have to spread the wealth around?

Actually, no. There's been a deficit, but without a budget? No, only under Obama.

Ok I guess what I was trying to say was that this isn't the first president to over spend. Both republican and democrate presidents are guilty of spending WAY to much. Neither side has been overly concerned with cutting spending, until now.
