Ugh. Have a co-worker; not a bad guy. He talks incessantly about things, however. Not several things - ONE thing. He'll pick a topic and stand in the entrance to my cubical going over, and over, and over his main points about the topic. He'll give example after example after example of the points of his topic. He'll give personal stories to support each example of each main point of his topic. Today, he did so while eating a milky-way candybar. Not only was I 'blessed' to hear his opinion followed by obscure references and anecdotal evidence, I heard those things through the wet-smacky-slurpy-swallow-sound (think somebody with no teeth eating a banana maybe? Think of loudly-sipped and slurped soup..maybe a combination) of his mid-morning snack. At one point I honestly thought I would lose it. Literally scream. I began to feel as if I would rather shoot myself in the head than continue another 20 minutes.

Remember the movie Airplane!? My co-worker, in the following scenario, is Ted Stryker - I'm the person listening to his story...While Ted Stryker was re-counting his story to those in the seats next to him, every memory-montage would end with the person beside him killing themselves.

Guy beside him just poured gasoline on himself...as he waits with the match ready to set himself ablaze..

And the old lady:

Old lady: "Nervous?" to an obviously-shaken Ted Stryker.
Ted: "yes"
Old Lady: "...First time??"
Ted: "I've been nervous lots of times"

You shouldn't have explained the reference. Would have been more fun that way. Half of us would have known who you meant, the rest would have thought you meant a KROQ disc jockey...

Hilarious ! I had a friend who just put his MP3 ear plugs in to avoide those types at work even when he wasn't listening to any music:laugh2:
