The union thugs are on a roll folks. Now hospitals and Police stations are targets of the union thugs - putting people at risk

The rift between Verizon and its 45,000 striking employees grew wider on Friday, after the telecommunications giant called in the FBI to investigate allegations of sabotage.

Verizon spokesman Rich Young said more than 90 acts of sabotage have taken place since the strike began on Sunday. Saboteurs have cut phone lines, affecting the service of several thousand customers primarily in New York and New Jersey but also in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

Acts of sabotage are hardly uncommon in contentious labor strife's, but Young said that these acts "cross the line." A police station and a hospital were among those that lost service as a result of the sabotage, he said.

Federal Bureau of Investigation spokesman Jim Margolin confirmed that an inquiry is under way and is being handled out of the FBI's Newark, N.J., field office.

What a coincidence that all this vandalism is happening now.

the union thugs are out in full force

As negotiations over a strike by 45,000 Verizon workers continued to sour, several thousand Washington-area customers experienced service outages caused by what the company called acts of sabotage.

Verizon reported 28 incidents of cut cables and damaged terminals in the District and Maryland since the strike began Sunday, out of more than 100 similiar incidents along the East Coast. Most of the vandalism (http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/verizon-strike-has-no-immediate-impact-on-telephone-service-in-mid-atlantic/2011/08/08/gIQAEult2I_story.html) has taken place in New Jersey and New York, Verizon spokesman Harry Mitchell said Friday.

Employees who work on the company’s wireline systems and in its call centers — about a third of the workforce — went on strike (http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/verizon-strike-continues/2011/08/10/gIQAPMJG7I_gallery.html) when their contract expired Sunday. Negotiations over a new labor agreement bogged down over disagreements about pensions and health-care benefits.

Aaron Dom, the area manager for Maryland and the District, said there has been a marked rise in serious vandalism on the company’s systems since the strike began.

“Normally, in a year’s time we’d see maybe six acts of sabotage,” he said, adding that of the 28 incidents of damage, 18 took place in the District and 10 in Maryland.

Vandals in the region appear to be cutting fiber-optic and copper lines as well as going after the large, square terminals on street corners, in what appear to be attempts to damage more of the system at a time, Dom said.

Verizon is offering up to $50,000 to anyone who can identify the vandals.

Now the FBI is involved. If a union thug is willing to put in daughter in front of a trunck to stop them from going to work - they will cut land lines without a second thought

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Talks between Verizon and striking workers <NOBR>continue (http://www.debatepolicy.com/#)</NOBR> as the company enlists the FBI to look into alleged sabotage of some of its network facilities.
Spokesman Rich Young said Thursday the company has discovered more than 90 acts of sabotage since the strike began over the weekend. Young said wires have been cut, resulting in the loss of phones and Internet service for residences and businesses. The company, based in New York City, said a small town police department and a hospital have been affected.

FBI spokesman Bryan Travers said the bureau is looking into the allegations.

A workers' union spokeswoman said the union doesn't condone illegal action of any kind.

I am sure there is logical reason so many phone line get cut during a union strike

I am also sure an email that is suspected to have been sent by a union member that states there will be violence is just a coincidence

This is not the first time we have seen violence and destruction of private property from unions. Look at the damage the union thugs did to the State House in WI

And only punk and a thug would put his daughter in front of moving truck in support of a union strike. Where are the folks from CPS?

Well then show us the physical evidence Johnny Cochran! Make this an open and shut case in court! Of course your conjectures won't be admissible, you'll need some physical evidence.

The FBI is investigating vandalism that has taken place in multiple locations within the Verizon service/strike area:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/verizon-customers-see-outages-as-worker-strike-continues/2011/08/12/gIQAzSJzBJ_story.html

That the acts have happened, isn't in question.

...State police in Uniontown experienced a 29-hour loss of landline phone service when someone shut off the power in underground Verizon vaults around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are trying to determine whether or not the act of criminal mischief is related to the ongoing strike by Verizon landline workers.

Trooper Timothy Kirsch said that there was no forced entry at the sites on Main Street and on Route 119 in Lemont Furnace, near the Penn State Fayette campus. The lack of forced entry has lead police to believe that the person responsible for shutting down the power had a set of keys...

Now who committed the acts? I'd assume that's why they are investigating.

Oh Kat it is not hard to figure out. Verizon managers did it to make the poor, underpaid, overworked union workers look bad

There I beat the union supporters to the punch

Now if one of these union supporters had to call 911 and when they picked up the phone and the line was dead, perhaps they wuld not be so supportive of these thugs

Exactly, thats how it operates in America, well unless you are RSR, he probably thinks all verizon picketers should be locked up now.

Well to bring whomever to justice, there does need to be proof. Thus, the investigation. That it seems logic would point in one direction over say, teens out for malicious mischief may be the case; still it does take evidence of who did it.

I disagree. All he's doing is making what he considers a logical leap in where to look for the perp. My guess is the FBI is also at the same point.

What he's doing here is not a whit different than what you do about oh so many groups that you label rightwing.

If you want others to ignore your need to pound your chest and claim victory over and over again, you can ignore RSR's tendencies regarding painting the left all one color. Get beyond the obvious and often annoying, look at what is attempting to be said. That is if you want others to do the same with you.

Of course

I never said all union picketers should be locked up, but it is clear who probably did the crime. It is not a new tactic for union thugs to destroycompany property, and if the FBI is allowed to do its job the criminals will be found out

I agree wholeheartedly that in this thread you aren't and that's refreshing, thus the response. I'm trying to over look any 'issues' we've had in the past. When someone posts in a way that I don't care for, unless they are breaking rules, I just go onto the next post. No reason to browbeat someone that isn't going to change, right?

Thus we can all post what we like, how we like. When someone says something I find relevant or amusing or insightful, I can overlook their 'annoying', (to me!) style. What's annoying to me may be amusing or even admired by others. I see no reason to gang up or bash around those who's style I don't care for. That was what I was trying to say.

Just an observation from someone who just enjoyed a glimpse of what used to be the norm. :thumb:In any case, this is my last OT post in this thread.

State police in Uniontown, Pennsylvania experienced a 29-hour loss of <NOBR>landline phone service (http://www.debatepolicy.com/#)</NOBR> when someone shut off the power in underground Verizon vaults around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.Police are trying to determine whether or not the act of criminal mischief is related to the ongoing strike by Verizon <NOBR>landline (http://www.debatepolicy.com/#)</NOBR> workers.

Trooper Timothy Kirsch said that there was no forced entry at the sites on Main Street and on Route 119 in Lemont Furnace, near the Penn State Fayette campus. The lack of forced entry has lead police to believe that the person responsible for shutting down the power had a set of keys.

The local state police were without phone and computer service for 21 hours. Calls had to therefore be forwarded to dispatchers who worked out of another barracks several miles away.
WTAE (http://www.wtae.com/r/28846881/detail.html) reported that police currently have no suspects and have made no arrests.

Earlier this week Verizon Communications Inc. filed a lawsuit (http://thejobmouse.com/2011/08/10/verizon-files-lawsuit-against-strikers-in-response-to-sabotage-attempts/) to stop demonstrators from blocking entrances in Newark and Dover, shutting off power and using “crazy glue” to jam fence mechanisms and service-truck locks.

A Delaware court has since agreed with Verizon Communications and has issued an injunction against the striking Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, prohibiting them from disrupting business.

The chancery court judge ruled that there can be no more than six protestors at any entrance and that they cannot block access to Verizon vehicles.

Meanwhile, the CWA and the IBEW workers said that they expect their workers to follow the law. They have accused Verizon managers of injuring picketers.
