I thought that, since we're swapping recipes, perhaps it would be nice to swap cocktails recipes too...

I'll start.. my favorite cocktail is a Martini made with Gin, not Vodka

1. Place ice cubes in your cocktail shaker

2. Place some extra dry vermouth in the shaker, just enough to coat the ice cubes, shake, then pour out the excess (some people, like Winston Churchill, skipped the vermouth part altogether)

3. Add about 3 oz of gin. The better the quality of gin, the better the martini (Tanguery for instance... Winston Churchill preferred Boodles Gin)

4. Shake the contents and strain out the ice cubes into a martini glass

5. Add a few green olives on a toothpick for a flourish.

P.S. James Bond's martini does not contain vermouth, here's the recipe (from Casino Royale)

3 oz gin (http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc22.html)
1 oz vodka (http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc28.html)
1/2 oz Lillet® Blanc wine (http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc703.html)

Pour the gin, vodka and Lillet blanc into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake well, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon, and serve.

We are finally experiencing some cooler weather. It's in the high 60's and when I finish writing my current article, I'm going to add some Bailey's to my coffee. ;) Kahlua is also good, but I don't have any!

A poker buddy of my brother's came up with the "Dirty Water". It's very good. After several of those, Jess is a very happy girl.

I'll have to get the specifics but it is a mixture of water, cranberry juice and UV blue vodka. There's enough water in it that you don't have a hangover the next morning - which is nice.

DO be aware though, that they go down really smooth and easy ... then you have to stand up.

1 cup of canned pumpkin
1 cup fresh cut apricot or frozen.
1 tbs sugar
1 cup 2% milk

Thanksgiving Smoothie

Ingredients:

One of my guests was talking about this drink:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/34021105/10_Holiday_Cocktail_Recipes_from_Top_Mixologists?s lide=8

The Snow-Bumble Tini

Joel Martin, Los Molcajetes (http://www.losmolcajetes.com/) , Fort Worth, Texas

Make this cocktail and watch your guests look as excited as a child opening up gifts on Christmas Day, Martin says. The name comes from a holiday movie classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Recipe:
1 oz Absolut Vanilla
½ oz of Jameson Irish Whiskey
½ oz of Rumplemintz
½ oz of Kahlua French Vanilla
½ oz of Butterscotch
1 oz Half & Half Cream
½ teaspoon of Sugar

Garnish with whipped topping, ground cinnamon & cinnamon stick. Be sure to place the garnish of whipped topping into the glass first. Then, after the ingredients are shaken, pour into the martini glass around the whipped topping so it floats to the top.

Spiced pear martini

Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 medium cinnamon stick, broken in half
1 750-ml bottle Remy V
5 tablespoons fresh Meyer lemon juice (from 2 lemons)
3 tablespoons pear nectar
Freshly-grated nutmeg, for serving
Preparation

In a small saucepan, warm the sugar, water and cinnamon stick pieces over low heat until the sugar dissolves and a syrup forms, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool the mixture completely; discard the cinnamon. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled cinnamon syrup with the Remy V, lemon juice and pear nectar. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate until cold, about 3 hours.

Add 12 ice cubes to the drink and stir briskly with a wooden spoon (this will melt some of the ice into the drink). Dividing evenly, pour the cocktail through a fine-mesh strainer into 12 chilled Martini glasses. Dust each drink with a pinch of freshly-grated nutmeg and serve.

Portuguese Egg Nog

Ingredients

2 Fluid ounce spiced rum (Cruzan 9 spiced rum works well - balancing molasses sweetness and winter spices)
1 Fluid ounce ruby port
1 Large egg (make sure the eggs are fresh and from a trusted source to help avoid any food-borne illnesses)
1/4 Cup sugar (mix half white and half brown sugar to bring out the molasses flavors of the rum even more)
8 Fluid ounce whole milk
1/2 Teaspoon freshly-grated nutmeg
1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon
2 dashes orange or ginger bitters

PreparationStep 1:Combine all the ingredients in a blender and frappe until the sugar dissolves and the egg is completely incorporated. The deep red of the port will be muted, but this stuff will look decidedly different than your usual eggnog.
Step 2:Serve in lowball glasses and grate fresh nutmeg over top. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and leave a fresh glass for the big man.

Candy Cane

Ingredients

1/2 Fluid ounce Chambord
3/4 Fluid ounce Peppermint Schnapps
3/4 Fluid ounce white Crème de Cacao
1 Tablespoon grenadine
Splash of half and half
Splash of tonic
Preparation

Step 1:

Pour everything but the half and half and tonic into a cocktail shaker full of ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass and top off with the half and half and enough tonic to cut the sweetness and give the drink a little effervescent kick. Garnish with a mini candy cane. If you want to score some serious brownie points with the man in red, pair one of these up with Rice Krispie treats. Sure, it sounds weird, but so does a man flying through the night sky on a reindeer-powered sleigh.

Had some friends talking about drinks made with cotton candy vodka. Never heard of it,but sounded good. So, I looked up a recipe online.

Cotton Candy Martini - Cotton Candy Cosmo

1 1/2 oz Pinnacle Cotton Candy Vodka
1/2 oz X Rated Fusion Liquor
1 oz Cranberry juice (100% pure)
A nice size handful of cotton candy
Sugar for rimming the glass.

Please Note this is for 1 martini, if you would like to make a whole shaker full of cotton candy cosmo martinis just simply multiply the ingredients. TIP:This is a strong drink, add more cranberry to dilute, the flavor will still be a carnival ride for your taste buds.

Directions:

In a martini shaker add Ice, cotton candy vodka, X Rated, and cranberry juice. shake until well mixed and chilled. Rim your martini glass in sugar or rub cotton candy around it. Take a heaping handful of cotton candy and place in your martini glass and slowly pour the contents of the shaker directly over the cotton candy. OMG watch the cotton candy just disappear and crystallize at the bottom of the martini glass.

This is the most amazing cocktail I've found.

The chocolate cake shooter.

1 part Citron vodka
1 part frangelico hazelnut
lemon wedge& sugar

Put in a shaker with ice, shake and pour into 1oz shots. Immediately after taking the shot, suck lemon wedge coated in sugar--it really tastes like chocolate cake--amazing!

Intrigued by frangelico liquor, I looked up other recipes and found this one. Haven't tried it yet-- too many ingredients for my limited liquor cabinet, but it involves fire...so it's great in my book.

Bigfoot's Toasted Marshmallow Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz frangelico
1 oz vanilla vodka
1 oz baileys irish cream
1 oz butterscotch schnapps
1 marshmallow
fire! (my favorite ingredient)

Preparation Combine the frangelico, vodka, baileys and butterscotch schnapps in a cocktail shaker with several ice cubes. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Toast a marshmallow, your method is up to you, but the coolest way is a little 151 in a highball.
