After spending nearly $5 trillion taxpayer dollars to make our lives better, are you better off now?

Today is (http://blog.heritage.org/2011/10/17/morning-bell-1000-days-under-president-obama/) President Obama's 1000th day in office. Since his inauguration, America has received 9.1 percent unemployment, massive debt, the government take over of healthcare resulting in higher healthcare costs, Occupy Wall Street, 900 days without a budget from Senate democrats, a skyrocketing poverty rate, 43 million on food stamps, 14 million unemployed and more. (http://blog.heritage.org/2011/10/17/morning-bell-1000-days-under-president-obama/)

The national debt stands at $14.9 trillion–$4.2 trillion of which has been added since Obama took his oath of office. Fourteen million Americans are unemployed–that’s 9.1 percent of the workforce. The unemployment rate has been above nine percent for 840 of the 1000 days, and the average unemployed worker has been without a job for more than 9 months. All told, 2.2 million jobs have been lost under Obama’s watch, despite the White House’s claims that the President’s $787 billion stimulus would create 3.3 million net jobs by 2010.

And what is the President doing to celebrate his 1000th day mark? Touring the country to promote the same policies that got us into this Obama lead disaster. (http://blog.heritage.org/2011/10/17/morning-bell-1000-days-under-president-obama/)
Unfortunately, instead of leading America toward fiscal sanity and a stronger economy, the President is taking the country in the opposite direction. Last week, his latest proposal to “stimulate” the economy with another $447 billion in spending failed to pass the Senate, but instead of recognizing that more taxing and spending is not what America wants or needs, he’s redoubling his efforts. Today, the President is starting another bus tour to sell a different version of the same plan–this time broken up into pieces of taxing and spending still big enough to choke a horse. It’s the same plan, only in different packaging.

So, are you better off today than you were 1000 days ago?

Specifically in my case, the answer is no. My income has dropped by about 40k/year but I don't blame Obama for that one. I took the hit when the economy tanked and am just happy to have a job today. However, I will be looking for new leadership come 2012 as the current leadership has done little to help this country at all.

Obama is now the Pied Piper of Poverty. We are better off is you want the US to be on the same economic level as Greece

Yes I am. The DOW is no longer at 6000 which means my 401K and other investments recouped losses and added gains, I have a better new employer with a good career position, and income increased. I realise that's not everyone but I have seen a lot of good paying jobs created in liu of shedding 700,000 jobs a month 1000 days ago.

Is your new employer a bankruptcy attorney? Do you work for a collection agency, or repo company? Or perhaps, like me, you work in the default department for a mortgage servicer.

Those companies are doing very well under Obamanomics. In fact I am getting about 10 to 13 hours OT every week

What "good paying jobs" SD? In case you have not noticed, since Obama took office unemployment has gone from 7% to 9.1%

No rsr none of the above. I prefer to be a producer rather than to scavenge. Let's see what is happening not far from your area of Pa. A relative recently took a two week course at community college for well cementing and he and the other 31 graduates were immediatly hired by Halliburton at $60-70k for the first year. More classes have since graduated with the same result.

Many people have taken jobs at Sands Casino and are very happy.

My employer has hired ~100 people in the past year and has provided work for many more with construction and upgrades.

In an article in yesterdays local paper the CEO of Air Products bemoaned the difficulty of finding 600 skilled new people they require each year.

In the next 2 years within 12 miles of my home will be built.

An Ethanol plant using saw-grass that will provide up to 130 new jobs and also contracted local farmers for 3,000 of this grass to be grown.

A Fermentation plant that will provide ~80 jobs to provide enzymes for the food industry.

A Blend plant that will provide minerals and vitamin mixes for the food industry.

All good paying jobs with growth potential if you will!

I am glad things are better for you. However for the country it is not so good

Under Obamanomics we are told 9% unemployment is the new norm. The only reason the unemployment rate went down by .1% is because people have been out of work for so long they no longer receive unemployment benefits - thus are no longer counted

It is amazing that during the Bush years when 300,000 plus jobs were added month after month and the unemployment rate was around 5% we were headed for another Great Depression. The jobs being created were not the "right" type of jobs

Now with unemployment at 9% and perhaps 100,000 jobs added per month - we are told we are on the road to recovery

Meanwhile another record number of people are on some government assistance, and once again Obama tells us more deficit spending and higher taxes will restore economic prosperity
