I was in the store the other day and found "The Resolution for Men" which is a book that is coming out with in conjunction with "Courageous". It's a book for men on how to live the life that God wants us to live and be leaders in our families. I've only read the first few chapters so far, but I've been impressed with it so far. I think the principles are sound.
The Introduction to the Book provides a resolution for men to follow. It goes like this:

The Resolution

"I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children."

"I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the Spiritual Leaders of my Home."

"I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me."

"I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength."

"I WILL teach them to honor authority and live responsibily."

"I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy."

"I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion."

"I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family."

"I WILL forgive others who have wronged me and reconcile with those I have wronged."

"I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, amd walk with integrity as a man answerable to God."

"I WILL seek to honor God. be faithful to His Church, obey His Word, and do His will.

"I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His Glory."

"'As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.'" (Joshua 24:15)

I was wondering whether anyone else has read this or what your thoughts are about this? There is also "The Resolution for Women" but I didn't see it at the store and I dont know what's in it.

I haven't read the actual words of the resolution for women but I can't imagine it would be any different that the one for men. I changed a couple of words above and it sounds reasonable to me.

For women

"I will obey my husband"

As long as he only demands what I want to do anyway.

For women

"I will obey my husband"

Her reply

"I want a divorce"

I learned early marriage is when a man and wome beocme one. The real troubles starts when they try to decide which one

Oh, that's an easy one- just ask any married man: "Happy wife, happy life". ;)

Yes, that's like a man saying "okay God, I'm yours as long as you don't ask me to do anything I don't want to do"

My wife does what she's told. Of course , I'm not an ass about that, and I treat her correctly. She knows with certainty that I will never ask her to do anything untowards.

That is true Abbey. Happy wife and happy hubby

I do not remember where I heard this, but it is so true:

Women do not bitch and they do not fight

They just roll over and turn out the light
