Like I said on the other thread, OWS and Tea Party are pissed off at the same thing, they just each keep blaming only one part of the problem. The whole thing is an exploding cluster fuck, on both the government and business side. They're not entirely wrong to protest, and I may disagree with their opinions, and I may think they're handling their affairs, but I'd die to defend their right do it and say it.

I most certainly would NOT die to defend their right to act the way the majority of them are acting. Bunch of boneheads who don't even understand what a peaceful protest is.

It's NOT the majority though. It's basically the dumbest 10% of the group. Like we're talking about in the other thread, it's a lack of leadership.

That MAY be so, but just like with the Muslims, until you see a MAJORITY step up and say "hey we don't support that type of behavior" the perception is that the majority at best don't care and at worst support the behavior.
Take the Tea Party for example. The catch a racist in their midst and immediately the toss him out and announce that they don't condone him/her.
we haven't seen ANY of that with the Occupy folks.

This is true, I'm not going to argue that. But let's look at Occupy Albany, where I'm at. They actually have a bunch of port-a-potties, their tents are laid out so that they aren't just strewn about, and they're keeping their area clean. Sure, they're proselytizing for their movement, but they even keep it off the sidewalks, and help people make sure they have the right bus at the local bus stop. If the other Occupy movements would take from their example, things would be a hell of a lot better.

Can we at least agree that the ones pitching tents in the parks and other venues are boneheads? Seems to me that the OWS folks are mad at government, universities, banks, financial planners, stock brokers, the tea parties....
The tea parties' message in contrast is simple, TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY! They want smaller government and more use of the federated system called for in the Constitution. Not all are literal constitutionalists, but all that I know are for following the basic parameters of the document.
While there are major politicians that would claim to be leaders of the tea parties, I've yet to see one that actually holds sway over how the individuals think or act. In fact, there is no 'party,' just a bunch of different ones, many within any given state. Some are dominated by very right wing folks, most are split between libertarians, conservatives, and even some democrats.

DS this talking point of comparing the Tea Party to the hippies is getting old
Please tell me how arrests were made at Tea Party rallies
Please tell me how may women were raped at Tea Party rallies
Please tell me how many Police officers were assualted by Tea Party members
Please tell me how Tea Party illegally camped out on private property
The Tea Party wants to cut back government, cut taxes, and reduce spending
The hippies want more handouts, want higher taxes, and more damn deficit spending
How the hell can anyone say they are pissed off at the same thing is amazing.

Seems to be alot more than that. Here we have this from Madison WI
Tell me, did any Tea Party member do something like this DS? If so please post it
City officials temporarily denied Occupy Madison a new street use permit Wednesday after protesters violated public health and safety conditions and failed to follow the correct processes to renew or amend a permit.
The permit, which expired Wednesday at noon, required Occupy Madison protesters to relocate from their current space at 30 West Mifflin Street, also called 30 on the Square.
A neighboring hotel's staff alleged voiced concerns about having to recently escort hotel employees to and from bus stops late at night due to inappropriate behavior, such as public masturbation, from street protesters.
In addition, officials agreed further occupation should not be allowed to continue without restrooms on site to avoid further public health violations.
"You can't be affecting the safety and health of other people around you," Madison Fire Prevention Officer Jerry McMullen said. "With the public health violations and the complaints I've heard, I don't believe it meets the spirit of the ordinance to a street use permit."
Occupy Madison representative and street use permit holder Paul Streeter said he hopes to use the 30 on the Square space again as soon as possible after Freakfest.
"[The protest] is indeed a work in progress," Streeter said. "We will continue to address issues as they come up."
Madison's Parks Division requested a written form stating the dates and location where members wish to occupy.
"You can tell us what your proposals are, but we have no idea what you are doing, how you are doing it or what your safety and security plan is," McCullen said. "We have nothing in writing to back it up, and we usually require that all events have [written plans]."
Occupy Madison is relocating onto Olin Terrace until Monday when Freak Fest is over, and they can request a new permit for 30 on the Square.

and we have this gem from the hippies in NH. Tell me DS, you sticking to your 10% crap and middle of the road solutions when dealing with filth like this?
A city woman is accused of pimping a 16-year-old girl she met in Victory Park during the Occupy NH demonstrations.
Justina Jensen, 23, of 341 Hanover St., is charged with felony prostitution. Police allege Jensen met a teen at the local protest, which is an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street, and used the Internet to arrange a first liaison for the girl with a man who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Police said the teen's mother called them Thursday about noon to say her daughter was missing and that her photograph had been posted on a website advertising adult party entertainment.
Court documents show the mother told police she and a friend had used the website to negotiate a deal for the friend to pay for sex with the teen.
Investigators looked at the website and found the girl's photo posted there, along with pictures of three other women, in an advertisement offering men to “come and have fun with four beautiful ladies” in Manchester.
Police said a woman who called herself “Remy” negotiated a telephone deal for “Mad Mike” to pay $150 to have sex with the teen called "Jewel."
An undercover officer, identifying himself as “Mad Mike,” called “Remy” to find out where to go and she gave him her 341 Hanover St. address.
When he arrived at the address and Jensen confirmed she was “Remy,” the officer identified himself as a police officer and told Jensen she was under arrest. Police said Jensen attempted to reenter the building to escape, but the officer was able to stop her and, after some resistance, handcuff her.

I never said take away their right to protest, but overnight camping drug use, and going to the bathroom on the street , thats not protesting, thats anarchy
occupy (illegally in my opinion) is not a protest movement, its an attempt to turn us into western europe, ideas should not be silenced, they should be debated and discussed and held up to the light of day. These ideas are dangerous because they are not being discussed or debated, just a bunch of hippie sheep, regurgitating i mean chanting non sense

You really want to start posting every retard moment that the liberal media slapped the Tea Party with? Hell, I can probably freeze my computer looking for "Tea Party is racist" on google. Nevermind that the main clip they use of a man with a shoulder-holstered SMG was black, and they purposely cut around him to keep from showing his skin, that just wouldn't fit the racist narrative.
It may seem like more, but it's not, it's just being portrayed that way by the media. Both sides go for their one narrative of events, and that's that. There are people trying to calm others down, but the problem, again, is a lack of leadership. That's what makes the Tea Party infinitely better on a moral grounds, is that we control and police our own.
There was a line from the movie Troy that I always loved, "You are my enemy now... but we can still respect one another." This is my take on it.
The core of what the Occupiers are pissed off at is correct, they simply aren't seeing what the actual cause of the trouble is. Too many special interests, be they corporate, environmental, or otherwise, have taken control of our government. Restrain the government and the special interest groups, and much less trouble. The Occupiers are simply naive in their thinking, and immature in the manner that they put themselves forward. This is what leads to the problems that are plaguing them.
They have to start stopping these jackasses within their movement before they get momentum, which is what the Tea Party does. They see a guy who's clearly getting ready to start shit, and he's gone, that's it. It doesn't get tolerated or placated for any length of time.
