It could be him pulling out of the race.

That'd be my guess.

I think he'll stay in. We'll see.

We could be wrong, but I'm with you. I don't think he really intended a serious bid, just wanted to get in for some name recognition for the future. He took off, I don't think he realized what would happen. I don't think he does yet.

He's done.
It's Gingrich vs. Romney.

Perhaps. Conventional wisdom.

While it raises my hairs, Ron Paul can't be ruled out, though he should be, imo

As for Mitt, there's a big problem and it isn't his being a Mormon. It's him, no one trusts him. He has no grounding.

Now Gingrich, he's a basketful of baggage, most thankfully dealt with.

One biggie I saw:

Key points:

We Can Talk About This Now, Or We Can Get Blindsided By This Later (http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2011/12/02/we-can-talk-about-this-now-or-we-can-get-blindsided-by-this-later/) So I vote that we air it now before any votes have been cast. Before you buy the car, get the CarFax.
If the GOP nominates Newt Gingrich, it will be nominating the only Speaker of the House in US history to have been formally reprimanded by the House that elected him. It takes a majority of your own party turning against you to make that happen. It occurred in January 1997 (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/govt/leadership/stories/012297.htm).

The House voted overwhelmingly yesterday to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and order him to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty, the first time in the House’s 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing.

The ethics case and its resolution leave Gingrich with little leeway for future personal controversies, House Republicans said. Exactly one month before yesterday’s vote, Gingrich admitted that he brought discredit to the House and broke its rules by failing to ensure that financing for two projects would not violate federal tax law and by giving the House ethics committee false information.

There’s a hilarious cameo by Maxine Waters in that story, and another by Nancy Pelosi about “trust,” but there’s also more about how Gingrich’s fellow Republicans dealt with his violations...

Let's just consider for a moment why Gingrich was reprimanded. Oh yeah, a book deal, that paled by how many dollars to Clinton at that time? Obama since? Who cares, and that is the bottom line.

With that said, I'm not counting out new blood for the GOP nomination. One thing is clear, Mitt doesn't have this sewn up, regardless of how careful he's being.

Ron Paul will NEVER be a serious contender. I don't care how many straw polls he wins.
As for the rest of what you posted, it has more to do with the shortcomings of each candidate and not with the fact that they will be the candidates to choose from.

It's Gingrich vs. Romney. Love them or hate them, they are what you have to choose from unless you are in Obama's camp.

You may well be right. I'm not going to dicker on that. Just remind anyone that 3 weeks ago it looked like Romney, Cain, Gingrich. 2 or 3 months ago, it was Romney, Perry, Cain, Gingrich...

There may be 1, 2, 6 out there that really thought there wasn't much of a contest.

Your Kung Fu is strong Kat.
There may be 42, 1806, or 3,263,442 that may believe the same.
