It worked fine in the mid 19th-century, so maybe it's time we tried it again:

Annex Mexico.

Without a border, the illegals automatically disappear. Every Mexican becomes a US citizen; and every American is free to travel in, live in, and work in Mexico for as long as they want.

More land and natural resources means a bigger tax base, and even the shoddy labor policies of the US government will help the former Mexicans make a better living wherever they live. Everyone will be happy, except for a handful of corrupt Mexican politicians.

Remember, kids, you heard it here first. ;)

Where have you been? ive been advocating that for years.

We significantly shorten the southern border. Making it much more managable. Open up investment opportunities. etc.

The only thing i see a problem with is the transition to citizenship and voting. We would have to assimiliate the population into our system before granting citizenship and voting rights because otherwise it would simply turn the United States into Mexico because they would simply change the laws to reflect Mexico. etc.

Besides which, any change that wasn't compatible with the US Constitution would have to be done by amending it.

I would suggest and English language amendment prior to it happening though. makes things lots more complicated otherwise.

Actually it would probably be less complicated to have two official languages. Hell, the Swiss have three and it doesn't seem to bother them much.

While we're at it, let's annex Canada, too. It will make Labbatts and Molson's less expensive. The downside of this will be that Curling will then become an American sport.

But then where would you be able to get decent medical care in this hemisphere? :laugh2:

Well, that's what bush wants. Can you say NAU? He's been silently pushing this for years. His open border policy is stand alone proof of it.

If you look at the population maps, it appears that Mexico is starting to annex us.

It appears they are because they are. If invading us by freely waltzing acrossed our borders doesn't bring them into power, they'll breed themselves into power with anchor babies.

Oh it's happening alright, and democraps and republicans alike are doing their level best at shoving an amnesty bill down our throats to help facilitate it.
