Where is Bullypulpit when you need him!

Anyway, the hypocrisy is overwhelming. And I can't wait to hear the outrage from the left who condemned GWB. What's that, they aren't doing so?

Candidate Barack Obama criticized President Bush for using ‘signing statements’ to ignore the will of Congress. But Obama’s done the same thing 20 times since taking office, and his latest effort is rankling lawmakers.
As a candidate in 2008, Barack Obama promised that if he was elected president he would not issue obscure declarations known as signing statements that thwart the intent of laws passed by Congress. But as the president now seeking reelection in 2012, on at least 20 occasions Obama has embraced the same tactic (http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2009/03/11/the-obama-signing-statement.html) he criticized George W. Bush for using, raising allegations of double-dealing in Congress and questions of constitutionality from the American Bar Association.

Obama’s most recent signing statement came on New Year’s Eve, when he autographed a 13-paragraph memorandum declaring he did not intend to follow several sections of the National Defense Authorization Act (http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2011/12/31/obama-signs-defense-bill.html) that funded the military for 2012. The president said his lawyers had concluded the provisions interfered with his constitutional duties to carry out foreign policy.

You know your decision was fucked up when Pelosi starts speaking out in favor of your actions! Not sure if I'd be able to find anything or not, but I'm curious how the old hag felt when GWB did anything even remotely similar...

That didn't take long, a simple search found this as the first return. What a hypocritical bitch!

Nancy Pelosi Threatens to Sue Bush

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is threatening to sue President Bush if he issues a signing statement as a way of circumventing a compromise Iraq war spending bill.

"The president has made excessive use of signing statements and Congress is considering ways to respond to this executive-branch overreaching,” Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami said.

"Whether through the oversight or appropriations process or by enacting new legislation, the Democratic Congress will challenge the president’s non-enforcement of the laws.”

A signing statement is a written pronouncement by the president upon signing a bill into law. Often its purpose is to assert that the law is constitutionally defective and to guide federal agencies in limiting its implementation.

IF Congress ever had any balls they would pass a law outlawing these signings and then dare the President to violate that law, whichever party he is from.
