Given how scewed up DC is, this ass clown will probably win

and libs want to make DC the 51st state!!

Or 58th if you believe everything Obama says

He's ba-aaack. Marion Barry, former four-term DC mayor is running for office again (http://townhall.com/news/us/2012/01/05/at_75_marion_barry_gears_up_for_another_campaign). District residents (myself included) remember some of the highlights of his career, including tax evasion (http://dcist.com/2012/01/marion_barry_cares_not_for_your_myo.php), smoking crack on tape (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/tours/scandal/barry.htm) and improperly awarding a contract to his girlfriend (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2011164812_apusmarionbarryapology.html) (and later stalking her). Now he want to continue representing Ward 8 on the DC Council.

As HBO considers making a movie about Marion Barry with Eddie Murphy in the title role, the real Barry is doing something that comes naturally: running for re-election in the nation's capital.Barry, the former four-term District of Columbia mayor whose legacy will always be tainted by his 1990 arrest after being caught on video smoking crack cocaine, now plays the role of elder statesman on the D.C. Council, where he represents a poor, predominantly black ward.At 75, Barry walks stiffly and slowly, having survived prostate cancer, a kidney transplant and a gunshot wound when Hanafi Muslims attacked city hall in 1977. But the man once dubbed the city's "Mayor for Life" says he has more influence than in more than a decade and fully intends to seek a third straight council term this year, even if the prospect makes some wince. He goes so far as to predict a winning margin of at least 70 percent in the April Democratic primary in Ward 8, the neighborhood east of the Anacostia River where he remains popular.Speaking of DC politics, Barry's friend Mayor Vincent Gray is currently facing a recall after a year plagued by scandal. Soon after Mayor Gray took office, it was revealed that he had hired friends and family members (http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/dc/2012/01/recall-effort-against-gray-getting-underway/2054766) for city jobs.
Local DC politics at its finest!

The guy should be ineligible for office. Isn't he convicted felon who can't even vote?

But what does that have to do with Obama? I haven't seen him endorse the guy.

Maybe Marion Barry and Ron Paul can run on the same ticket. Ron Paul wants to legalize the hard drugs that kill, and Barry wants to smoke them!

I guess you missed it when Obama said he had campaigned in all 57 states so if Dems get their way and DC becomes a state - it would be #58 according to the Hope and Change Kid

I didn't miss it , but

A) You can't really believe that was any more than a flub and that Obama actually knows how many states there are.

B) That doesn't show that Obama endorses Barry, so I ask again, What does Obama have to do with THIS thread?
