A new study from a researcher at Harvard University finds that gay men are most attracted to the most masculine-faced men, while straight men prefer the most feminine-faced women.

"Our work showed that gay men found highly masculine male faces to be significantly more attractive than feminine male faces. Also, the types of male faces that gay men found attractive generally did not mirror the types of faces that straight women found attractive on average," says Glassenberg. "Men, gay or straight, prefer high sexual dimorphism in the faces of the sex that they are attracted to. Gay men and straight men did not agree on the types of male faces they considered attractive."

I hope public funding was not used for this study! Sounds like another "Scientists spend $40m and 24 months figuring out if birds like birdseed".

This is one thing I have never understood. Gay men perfer masculine men,yet they groom and carry themselves in a very feminine way emphasizing those features. So...who is it they are trying to attact then? Straight men...who prefer feminine women?

He must not have wanted to date much.

From the article...seems women are strange too

In this particular study, straight women preferred more masculine-faced men than lesbian women, while lesbians preferred slightly more masculine female faces than straight women or men.

Lesbians like masculine females, but not masculine men. If you are not attracted to men...why do you want your women to look "masculine"?

The gay men I know look and generally behave very masculine. They are extremely attractive, work out, keep themselves up, are clean and tidy, have good jobs, nice houses, nice vehicles, fun to be around ... what's not to like?

Oh, and they want good-looking, manly men. Who am I to blame them? I like good-looking, manly men too. The ones I know DO NOT want little boys. They want men.

Let's see, the gay women I've met or know ... they want what they want, I guess. Usually there is one that is more "butch", if you will, than the other. Guess I've never really thought about it much. I think I've only been hit on once by a lesbian. Then again, I'm clueless about that stuff unless it's pretty obvious.

I know that is weird, I don't get it either.

They are fun to be around, aren't they? I got to learn some new terminology - nothing bad, just them making fun of other gays. Definitely twisted sense of humor. Guess they have to have that.

Seriously though, I don't have to worry about them hitting on me, ogling me if I'm cleaning and they never even consider me wearing the french maid outfit while I work.;)

I clean for a gay man, previously a gay couple and let me say their bathrooms, specifically the toilet area was/is less messy than 99% of the straight men I've had the privilege of cleaning up after. They get points right there.

Yep. They most certainly do take care of their houses and lawns, etc. Well, I guess I help too.

Where I work is in the historic district and they research the history of the house and try to stay true to the design, etc. They decorate tastefully and it always looks good.

If they don't like men, why does the partner strap on a male appendage?

I understand gay women less than I do gay men. I can appreciate a good-looking fella. "Hot" chicks do nothing for me. Neither do "butch" ones, just for clarification. ;) Perhaps it has less to do with them liking men as wanting to be a man or man-ish? Dunno. And I'm around gay men anymore, not gay women, so I can't ask.

As to your question, Abbey - I would say it's a matter of anatomy. Some things are physically made for each other, no matter what we want.

Why do short butchy lesbians want manly looking lesbians?
I bet you, if we could find a butchy girl who liked the real feminine types, and a gay guy who liked the masculine types, they'd be perfect for each other.
