Another week and another primary. It appears that Gingrich has made up some serious ground and is polling pretty close to Romney now. The others all appear to be an afterthought at this point. Any predictions? Thoughts?

I have a gut feeling that in the end Newt will be the nominee. I hope so anyway cuz I don't trust Mitt and Santorum is a twit that BO will squash like a bug.

I thought Newt was going to run away with things last month, but that's what I get for predicting things before they even started! LOL But I think things are going to start to heat up even more between Newt and Mitt after today. I think Santorum will be left in the dust before long and drop out. I think RP will stay in it, but be more like an annoying gnat than a threat to any legitimate candidate.

What makes Santorum a twit? I've watched several debates, and he sounds intelligent, is well-spoken, and is apparently a man with conviction. Is he a "twit" because you disagree with him on something(s)?

That debate the other night definitely changed things for Newt. That was absolutely priceless. I was having a lot of trouble believing that the moderator began the debate with that question, but it was CNN who suck almost as bad as ABC. Newt's fearless response got him publicity he couldn't have paid for so I believe it will be close in S.C.
I like Rick Santorum, but it sounds as if he is pretty far behind in S.C. Doesn't really mean anything to me. The media has acted like every causcus/primary so far is the deciding factor in the election and the one that is going to win everything.

Gingrich has been declared the winner, and with about 60% reporting, the numbers thus far are appearing like this:
Gingrich 136,644
Romney 89,542
Rick Santorum 60,176
Ron Paul 45,372
That's a pretty sizable win gearing up for Gingrich if the percentages hold up.

We'll see if he can carry it through to the remaining states. Sad that he had to sell his soul to get back in it though.

Agreed. Newt's response to John King's opening question was blistering. By the time he was done with King I had the image in my head of Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston.
Before the debate I was listening to Hugh Hewitt and he had a lady call in from S.C. and she prophetically said that if CNN asked about Newt's ex-wife's ABC statements that it would result in Newt getting a second standing ovation because the folks in S.C are fed up with dirty politics. Wow, was she right!
Newt knew it was coming and had already crafted a strong response and CNN predictably fell for it. Here's the lesson for the media: Don't challenge Newt without wearing a lot of armor because he will strike and strike hard.
That single response won S.C. for Newt
Now, can he hold it? I'd say we have a few more rough and tumble weeks ahead of us. Newt will no doubt open his mouth and say something controversial and suffer for it only to bounce back with another debate which is where he shines. Looking forward to Florida like the NFL playoffs. This will be good...

Right on. I'm fully expecting things to get even nastier from Romney now. As far as Newt goes, that had to be one of the most exciting moments I have seen on tv in a while. My husband and I were cracking up. There's nothing on tv quite like watching a member of the MSM get made a FOOL of.
Florida will be interesting. I thought I heard there were two more debates before Florida? Newt is probably salivating.

Some of the people of SC have loudly spoken. They said that it's ok if you were a serial adulterer and so lacking in integrity that your own party mutineed and fined you 300K. This is America where any crook can aspire to be the leader of the free world.
Mitt is a business as usual kinda guy, but I honestly don't think he's anywhere near as crooked as the newtster. Santorum is fundamentally a conservative sort of fella but his views on all things gay will be his undoing in the general election.
RP better step it up or we are going to be stuffed into a dark hole...... sideways.

I'll take exception to the "mutineed" comment. The GOP has been infamous since the 90's for sacrificing anything the leftist media went after. They pretty much emasculated the GOP Congress with the tactic and scaredy-pants rightwingers have YET to figure it out.
The Dems get power they shove any-and-everything down our throats.
The GOP gets power and they wince at every accusation the left levies and do nothing.
I'll take do nothing over fucking up.

RP has that proverbial chance of a snowball in hell. And for what it's worth Newt never paid a fine (as I understand it) but did pay some of the cost accrued in the mutiny. Why, I donno.

Newt is a crook. He has all the character of the used car salesmen across the street from the payday loan guys. None of us are naive enough to believe that politics has ever been clean. But, the newtster seems to thrive on condescending remarks and revel in some of his more lowlife ways. I guess it's a perverted sort of honesty that he doesn't outright paint himself as a saint like most other pols.
This election is seriously damned if you do or don't.
