Breaking news on many major sites, her publicist stated she died this afternoon. What a shame. I'm sure it's somehow related to drugs. Such a great singer and performer in her prime.

Damn that is a crying shame. Lots of the guys in my Platoon overseas were flat out in love with her. She had it all, looks, brains, and talent.

How sad she was pretty young still, I liked alot of her songs. Was she still married to Bobby Brown?

I'm pretty sure they were splitville-- crack and marriage don't mix too well. her voice was amazing, of course, but I always enjoyed her zest, she was quite a character-- loved her in The Bodyguard. She always seemed sincere, true to who she was, and I respect that.

It is sad and it is a waste but, unfortunately, not the first

Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
Curt Cobain
Amy Winehouse
Jim Morrison

and many others.

You'd think that by now the entertainment industry would do something to help its members avoid and get out of the grip of drugs. If it were happening in another industry something would have set up to help its members get and stay straight a long time ago.

But they make more money after the entertainer is dead. It is sad. And it is a waste. But she could have chosen otherwise.
