Doesn't include slurs.

Ask yourself:

Is it true?

Is it beneficial?

Is it necessary?

Depends on where I'm at and who I'm with. Certainly my speech will be different at church than it would be hanging with friends at the bar, or at a rock concert.

If I were to hold to the teachings on Right Speech that I posted earlier, I would have very little to say.

That would be a good thing.

Right speech, or new speak?

I found this article which i think addresses the topic more broadly.

Debate success is predicated on effective argument. To be effective, one must be fair, honest and accepting. Using these simple rules, debaters can walk away from the table as friends every single time.

It is not personal.

Argument should never be a personal attack. Argument should always be a battle of facts and wits. The reason for the argument is that disagreement is present. There is no need to add discontentment as well.

Nothing I do is necessary. But it is occasionally funny.

Doesn't really matter...libs will just change the definition to suit their whims. At any rate we (meaning everyone else) will never be "right".

Wow, you know you've violate this set of tenets, right?

Will you volunteer to be the role model for this? Will you post something you've written expressing this concept...something more than one liners?

Off topic - I'm always suspect when people come here and build up their post count by posting/spamming endless one line posts.

Windsong:

Here is a starting point for you. You advocate Right Speech and yet you've posted many divisive things and have engaged in idle chatter. Hopefully, from this point forward, all your posts will follow the Right Speech path.

Right Speech
samma vaca
© 2005–2012 (http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/dhamma/sacca/sacca4/samma-vaca/index.html#F_termsOfUse)

Right Speech is the third of the eight path factors in the Noble Eightfold Path (http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/dhamma/sacca/sacca4/index.html), and belongs to the virtue division (http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/dhamma/sacca/sacca4/index.html#threefold) of the path.
The definition

"And what is right speech? Abstaining from lying, from divisive speech, from abusive speech, & from idle chatter: This is called right speech."

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/dhamma/sacca/sacca4/samma-vaca/index.html

Speak only the speech that neither torments self nor does harm to others. That speech is truly well spoken. Speak only endearing speech, speech that is welcomed. Speech when it brings no evil to others is pleasant.
